AVOID THIS RESTUARANT!!!! This was my second time going to this place and I have to say it has one of the worst customer service and management. They are not really authentic Indian restaurant and Cincinnati has many better places to try, so avoid going here if good Indian taste and service matters to you.
Problem - One they have a 13-14 year old kid at the front taking orders and payment. Now the kid seems to be impressive with his communications skills and all but he lacked knowledge and experience big time, and what do you expect if the other adults managing the place don't have the right attitude or knowledge to run a restaurant. The first time I went to the restaurant I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala (curry) and that was good, saag paneer was bland but it was eatable. It was a young man with a manbun who took my order and he knows the difference between Paneer Tikka Masala and Paneer Tikka.
Today I called and I think the kid answered the call and he gave it to another young adult. I specifically ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer. Now when I got home I checked and they had marinated Paneer with vegetables known as Paneer Tikka or Soola. Now I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala which is a curry similar to Chicken Tikka Masala but with Paneer insead. So i called back to ask for my correct item or refund and again the kid answers the call. I explain the whole issue that I ordered the curry Paneer Tikka Masala not this. However the kid seemed confused and gave the phone to another young adult that also didn't understand what I mean't and that I asked for Paneer Tikka Masala which is a curry not this, he kept trying to explain that I got my correct order then our of nowhere and adult comes and takes the phone out of his hand mid conversations and says "Hi" like I just explained the issue 2 times and this adult acted to very rude and had a attitude to his tone. I explained everything to him again and he kept adamant that I got the right order and I got Paneer Tikka because there is no such a thing as "Paneer Tikka Masala curry" and I explained to him what the curry is despite him trying to talk over me and prove me wrong. He kept repeating they only have Paneer Makhani which is the closest thing to the curry I described and Paneer Tikka Masala is not a thing. Now this has to be a joke since Paneer Tikka Masala or Chicken Tikka is the most famous indian dish in American Indian restaurants. It was one of the worst attitude and customer service I received from an Indian Restaurant, he acted like he was in India and he can get away being rude. Despite all of this I didn't lose my patience and told him that I have placed an order an month ago and the man with the bun took my order and got me the right Paneer Tikka Masala and not this. But he kept ignoring that and I realized that he knows what Paneer Tikka Masala is and they made a mistake but since he didn't want to give a refund or make the right order so he kept being adamant that Paneer Tikka Masala is not a thing and it was my mistake.
There are better Indian restaurants who know the true Indian authentic food and have better knowledge and respect for their customers. Now the kid and young adult or teen lacked experience/knowledge and the owner should hire actual adults for this role who have experience. Stop making your family work to save money, it will improve your business. Now the owner or manager whoever the adult was needs to work on his attitude and tone towards customers and stop scamming them, if you made a mistake then accept it.
They should also search what Paneer Tikka Masala is and then Paneer Makhani. You will learn they're two different things and Paneer Tikka Masala exists and is one of the most famous thing in Indian restaurant menus. I described Paneer Tikka Masala and he said that's Paneer Makhani so he needs to change his menu and add Paneer Tikka...
Read moreEating at Taj Indian Cuisine was a real experience. When the staff wasn't giving us great food ideas, we were talking to them about traveling the world!
My date and I started with samosas I got the keema and she got the veggie... and them we shared. Amazing!
For our main dishes, she got the Chicken Tiikka Massala and I got my favorite: Lamb Vindaloo. They let you choose how spicy you want it. She got a 3 and I said "really spicy" it was also wonderful.... and spicy!
We got some plain and garlic Naan to go along with it.
We also got another main course to share (and take home): Chicken Tandoori. It was suggested because it had a different slate of spices and it did not disappoint!
Finally, we split Gulab Jamun for dessert and took home an order of Kheer at the staff's suggestion.
And we washed it all down with Mango Lassi.
What a great meal and experience. I can't wait until I'm back in town so I...
Read moreLet me preface this comment with the information that I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The Metro Vancouver area is home to one of the largest South Asian ex-pat communities in North America and some of the best Indian food outside of India (or London, UK).
I had a staple dish for me, chicken tikka masala, and it was excellent. I ordered it at a level 4 spiciness (out of 6) and it had plenty of spice and flavour. The rice was fluffy. The portions were MASSIVE. The nan was warm and flaky without being dry. My husband had the matar paneer and the ghee (fresh soft cheese) was firm and flavourful and the peas were tender. He had his spiced to a level 5 and felt that was an an accurate description.
If you want to try Indian food for the first time, check out their lunch buffet or order any of their dishes at a level 1 spiciness. If you are sceptical about mid-west strip mall Indian cuisine, eat here. You...
