Tasty beers, friendly service, lively environment. Great taps in the heart of Electric City- Anderson, SC! Visited with my father-in-law, who likes beer but doesn’t have a lot of experience with different styles. Jeremy patiently put together two flights of four pours each so we could taste a broad range of styles. Standouts in the lighter coloured styles were the Hitman Hops IPA and the Moonlight Madness German Pilsner, which tasted like a late spring or early summer’s day. For the darks, the delicious Sweater Weather Imperial Stout and Quadzilla, a Belgian Quadrupel that really showed care and craftsmanship; both heavy hitters at 9.1% and 10% ABV, so we were grateful they offer 10oz. pours. The building is cavernous with a concrete floor, long tables, a small area for games, plenty of televisions to watch sports, clean bathrooms with infant changing stations (I mean, I assume the women’s bathroom has one, too), and there’s a decent bar menu that favours pizza; would be good to see wings on there, in the future. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient; counter service only, when I visited, so you might encounter a line for your drinks (but not your food). Saw lots of young couples, folks with their dogs, groups of friends, and tables with grandparents, parents, and grandkids. My son liked his Mexican Coke and cheese fingers; would be great to see a Magnetic South root beer or ginger beer on the drinks menu and the retail case, in addition to Coke products. They carry non-alcoholic Athletic beers, which I was happy to see- excellent alternative to beer with alcohol (and low calorie). Bought a couple of Stouts, a Porter, and a Dubbel Bock to take home and share with the guys. Go get to know this...

As the kitchen manager of the team that works hard every single shift, I want to speak openly and respectfully about what we do here at Mag South.

We may not make our dough from scratch, and that’s okay. We work with what we’ve got and do it with pride. Every item that leaves our kitchen is made with care, attention to detail, and a standard we stand by. We keep it consistent, clean, and honest. We don't pretend to be something we’re not but we are damn good at what we do.

And the same goes for our bar staff. From the first pour to the last call, they hustle, juggle, and serve with heart. This whole crew shows up to work hard, serve well, and create an atmosphere worth being part of.

But here’s the hard part: not every guest walks in with respect. We deal with people who ignore the menu, treat staff like robots, or act like our place should change just for them. Some come in hostile, entitled, or impossible to please and we still serve them. But respect has to go both ways.

We’re not here to fake anything. We’re here to do real work, as a real team, giving a real damn.

To our regulars and the guests who see and appreciate that: thank you. You’re why we keep pushing through the busy shifts and the tough days.

To those who show up expecting the world and giving nothing but attitude just know, this isn’t your personal kitchen. We do what we do with pride, and we’re not ashamed of it.

This is our house. And we serve it straight.

— C. Watkins,...

I'm writing this review with a lot of disappointment. My family and I have been loyal customers and dedicated Run Club members for four years. We’ve celebrated birthdays here, brought friends, and consistently tipped 30% or more. Sadly, none of that matters anymore. The service has gone completely downhill, and it's clear the issues start with management. There's one particular bartender who is consistently hostile. He refuses to let me start a tab with my phone's tap-to-pay (insisting on a physical card), yet I watch other bartenders allow other customers to do it all the time. The old manager Niikki showed a bartender how to do it one night. He also incorrectly told our group the beers weren’t on tap, only to be corrected by another staff member. The final straw was when a staff member falsely accused my wife and me of not tipping. After four years of generous tips and even staying late to help the staff clean, this was a complete slap in the face. This isn't just about one bad employee; it's about a culture that management allows. It has become clear that loyal customers are only valued when the restaurant is slow and are treated as an inconvenience when it's busy. Under the current management, this is no longer a place that values respect or consistency. We will not be back, and I can no longer recommend...

Wow! Had a pit stop for a few hours while visiting Anderson and decided to drop in to The Magnetic South brewery. I'd been here before and enjoyed it, but wondered what it would be like on a Monday afternoon around 2 pm. I was pleasantly surprised! While the children are in school and the parents at work, the grandparents are out eating pizza and drinking beer. Who says old is even a thing? I watched old men and women playing pinball (a little too into it, if you ask me), old men slinging hand sized balls accurately getting points in Skee-Ball. They all were loud and carefree. Reimagined youth, to be sure. Me, I just sat and watched with a big, dopey smile on my face, enjoying them enjoying themselves, and having a dark lager (next best thing to a porter or stout when they are out). The weather was great so I headed outside to sit on a shaded bench (yes, it was allowed) to drink my beer. They have a fountain and park setting, which the water sounds great over the slow traffic noise. Plenty of benches, plenty of picnic and metal tables, and a great play area for kids and dogs, or dogs you treat like your kids. 🤣 Great vibe! Now go...

Great brew! Great food! Great people! Great location! There’s a lot of greatness shaping up here at Magnetic South. It is more of a group or family fun setting but we were there for a date night and it was still fitting. The pizza is fantastic. We had cheeseburger pizza and it was delicious. We were a little apprehensive about until we got it and it was like a blast of all the best cheeseburger flavors in pizza form. The place is so new there’s still some details being worked out but there’s nothing to complain about. The wait for food was actually shorter than expected so don’t be deterred to easily. Plus there’s plenty to enjoy during the wait. I’m excited about all the construction happening around this place because everything is going to be so nice on the end of downtown. But we couldn’t wait for all that to be done to give Magnetic South a try - it just draws you in and makes you feel right where you belong.
