This is an update on my review. I see a lot of ‘1 stars’ and I don’t blame them. They probably had a pretty bad experience. I’m just here to say that sometimes the person that normally cooks is gone for some reason, the restaurant has to stay open and we get Barney Pfeiff in the kitchen trying to roll an egg. Granted, fair warning would be fantastic but usually, for me, anywhere I go, if I complain, I get my money back. Most of the time we get what we expect from 88 Wok. I’m hoping they read this since I just ordered something and I got a request to leave a review- which I already had awhile ago. This is not a corporate food restaurant like Red Lobster or Applebee’s - it’s a small, family restaurant that’s doing their best in a bad economy. If you get a bad batch, ask for your money back. If you want fantastic Asian food, go to Frogtown. Just make sure you’re strapped.
88 Wok is average for Chinese delivery. It’s what I expected from a north suburb Chinese restaurant. We just tried them for the 2nd time last night. They have decent prices and both times we had it delivered in less than 30 minutes - which to us is impressive as the delivery restaurant 6 blocks from us takes 45-60 minutes for delivery.
The food is average but they give some hefty portions!! I WILL continue to order from them even though the cream cheese wontons need some serious work. (I freely admit that I’m an Asian food SNOB and turn to Chinese delivery only when I don’t want to cook OR drive to Frogtown for some good Thai or...

Read moreWe order frequently because the food here is very good, but most of the time they forget things in the orders. A forgivable offense, because they normally make it right the same day and in most cases it's just a can of pop. But today, we ordered two dinners and they left out the rice. After a phone call, we were under the assumption that the rice was on it's way--because how do you eat sauce based food with no rice, am I right-- only to call almost an hour later to find out they were just going to give us free rice (or more specifically, the rice we already paid for and were expecting with our meals TODAY) next time.
The thing these people forget is that there are MANY local restaurants that serve the same cuisine at approximately the same price and quality that would be more than willing to right their mistake on the same day. Long story short, I'm now making rice and eating cold chicken with garlic sauce, pot stickers and lo mein (which for all intents and purposes, is very good when hot) for the last time...
