Abelardo's Mexican Fresh — Restaurant in Ankeny

I ordered this food from food dudes delivery so I didn't have any experience with the staff, but it just arrived and I regretted it instantly after opening it and seeing what they brought me. The order was correct but the quesadilla was greasier than a cheese pizza. It was a pork quesadilla so it was obviously fattier than most other meat that goes into quesadillas, but at least use common sense and drain it before putting it inside the tortilla!!! It was hard to eat. I also had a chicken enchilada that was bland, even with the enchilada sauce and cheese. I'm convinced that outside of the "marinated pork", they don't season any of their food! And I couldn't really pick up any flavors from that because of the thick layer of fat on top of it. The side of "sour cream" they gave me was foamy on top and had the thickness of milk. I dipped my finger in it and it coated it. I threw it out after that...I didn't taste it. The side of queso I ordered also had a foamy appearance on top and was not very thick either. Thin queso is usually not an issue for me, but the foam was a bit weird. It's almost as if they dilute both their sour cream and queso with milk. The flavor of the queso was literally the only thing I ordered from this restaurant that had any flavor whatsoever. I just put a little salt and some salsa on everything else to make it palatable. I also ordered the refried beans which were flavorless until the addition of salt. I have heard mixed reviews about this restaurant and location and wanted to try it for myself. Was disappointed. Owned and operated by a young gentlemen who, in short time, has become mi amigo. This location has a menu and business hours to cater any appetite, anytime. Breakfast, lunch, and even 3:00am "late dinner." ARE YOU HUNGRY? Go to Abelardo's! Step out of your typical Tex-Mex boundary! Don't settle for the phony beef or chichen entrée at Taco Puke, I mean Taco John's next door. They'll charge you astronomical fees for a floppy noodle they call a burrito!
