Don't come here expecting the "full" korean bbq experience, as you'll walk away disappointed. Do come if you want to try wagyu, and do expect to spend bit more for their offering.
Ordering is done on the tablet and after reviewing the menu, we went with the following: A5 Wagyu Beef Cubes (8 cubes per order) A5 Wagyu Ribeye (2 pcs come per order) garlic angus beef pork neck beef soondubu
Our primary objective was to try the wagyu. The wagyu was good, but as they say you can only eat so much wagyu before that greasiness of the meat gets to you... and sure enough after eating the ribeye's, it hit us, but we were able to finish. This is where the Korean dipping sauces would helped, but they do not offer them.
Garlic Angus Beef - the garlic was missing, inquired, they took it back and added minced garlic and brought it back. The meat is on the tough side.
Pork Neck - pork jowl is the official name. Do try this, it's one of my favorite.
Beef Soondubu - the beef was bit tough, under seasoned and could use a lot of help in the flavor/seasoning department.
I don't know if they are still in "soft opening"/learning mode, but I had a lot of issues with the service.
the grill... I had to turn on the grill myself. They brought out the meat, but after placing them on the table walked away. Typically, the grill is the first thing that's turned on before you place your order.
banchan - you get three things, napa kimchi, picked veggies (radish & pepper) and cucumber dish. When I asked if I could get more picked veggies, the lady said she had to ask. At the end, she brought more out and said, if I needed more, to let them know.... The mgmt should do more to train on the staff as to what can be refilled, etc.
sauces: no ssamjang, sesame oil, etc... they only have Japanese bbq sauce/teriyaki sauce and two types of spice power (one non-spicy and other spicy). These two dry spices will remind you of Chinese lamb skewer joints.
no veggies. I think it's all a la carte, so don't expect salad, lettuce, garlic or peppers.
utensils.... on the table, you have chopsticks and a plate. When we got our soondubu, they never brought spoons. Not sure how they expected to eat the dish without the spoons :) After few minutes, I asked if we could get spoons, then the staff member asked us how many (umm... there were 2 in our party)
Additionally, they never brought the rice that came with the soondubu. I had to flag someone down and ask if rice came with it, they said yes, left quickly to get our rice.
Overall, walked away 75% full, enjoyed the wagyu, but was disappointed with the service. I know, they recently opened up and they are learning... but they need to work on their customer service side of things.
Maybe I'll return in few years and hopefully when I do, I hope they worked out all those little things to improve the organizational and...
Read moreI waited to see if I had food poisoning, but I didn't so 1 star for that. That's how disgusting the la kalbi was ...and some other flavored meat that we spit out immediately. The non flavored meat was fine . Expensive as heck, but I knew that going in. But the seasoned meet tasted sour, we thought it was rotten, but it could have been just the worst marinade I've ever had the displeasure to eat. They could have went to Kroger and used pre made marinade. $185 for 3 people for some of the worst Korean food I've ever had... honestly, even it cost $90 I wouldn't go back..save your stomach and your $. Edit. Had to come back to post my receipt since the owner called me a liar ..and I am Korean and I know the marinade...and if that's your marinade u should change it because it tastes sour and rotten..la kalbi is sweet.. don't tell me about pears blah blah . It...
Read moreWent there with friends during their soft opening and had the best kbbq I’ve ever had in Michigan.
I was amazed by their wide selection of meat, creative marinate flavours, and attentive and friendly service the whole time. It is rare to get this combo in A2.
Their Angus shirt ribs, pork neck, A5 wagyu, spicy pork belly, and the authentic Chinese style marinated pork are my favourites. I have to say I just LOVE every single dish I ordered there.
Would definitely recommend it to my friends and come back...
