I've been meaning to try Side Biscuit for a while now, and after making my first visit, I definitely get the hype. I stopped in with a friend who's an Ann Arbor local who's since moved away, but had an unstoppable craving for Side Biscuit while in town. The menu is simple and straightforward, and the staff is quite friendly and happy to explain through any questions you may have along the way.
The location is just about as close as you can get to a "hole-in-the-wall" type of an establishment, as there's virtually no indoor space other than the kitchen and the tiny corner of the building where you order, but hey, space is overrated! Side Biscuit does offer a few outdoor tables where you can eat your meal while you're there, but I wouldn't plan on bringing any big groups to dine in here -- you'll see a lot of folks picking up takeout on a normal day. When I visited, it'd been raining outside prior and the tables were put away, but one of the staff members stepped out to set up a table for us (in other words, awesome service!).
The food is fantastic, and the combinations of flavors are quite well put together. You can tell that the staff is passionate about the food, and the wings of the week and biscuit of the week are definitely things you should explore! While we're on the topic of wings, I'll say my favorite so far is the Brogarashi were my favorite, and honestly the Seitan fingers really make a case for themselves too.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking out Side Biscuit if you're in this part of Ann Arbor! Good value, good food, and a great team --...
Read moreTl;Dr: These are, hands down, the BEST wings I have had in downtown Ann Arbor.
What we got: We got two driveway plates (six wings + biscuit). Sauces Gucci Gang and Brogarashi (dry).
Flavor and consistency: They were so good. The sauce nor the dry rub were overpowering or have clashing flavors. The wings were a decent size and juicy.
The Brogarashi rub description of "umami bomb" is 110% accurate and is accompanied by a side of cherry tomatoes with a fabulous marinade.
The Gucci Gang were not oversauced and hand ended up pretty clean which I appreciate
The side biscuit was moist and delicious with a side of compound whipped butter.
Lastly, we got the peanut butter + miso cookie which was interesting because it did not taste like either, but it was pretty good anyway (more like sugar cookie flavor)
Price: The plate was 16$, which is on the pricier side, but they do compensate on flavor. Would be good for indulging for date night.
Conclusion: In the end, I highly recommend this restaurant if you want some...
Read moreI had heard that Side Biscuit was good, but nothing could have prepared me for the meal I just had. These are, hands down, the best wings I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The flavors are unbelievably bold, fresh, and adventurous, and I couldn't understand how so much flavor was packed into every single bite.
This is the kind of place you find once every 5 years, if you're lucky. Good food has brought a tear to my eye only twice before, and now I'm happy to add Side Biscuit to the list. It would be a travesty if they don't get awarded some Michelin Stars for their accomplishments here.
To top it all off, I ordered one "biscuit of the week" (which was incredible by the way) and they gave me two. My only regret is that I'm a graduating senior and likely won't be able to enjoy another meal from here anytime soon. If you live in Ann Arbor, do yourself a favor and check it out. And if you're from anywhere else in America, or even abroad, go buy a...
