Rawaq Cafe — Restaurant in Ann Arbor

Very happy with my visit here before I finished up a road trip. Some of the bad reviews I've read from before seem to be more about the typical American offerings ...you need to try the Yemeni beverages and food.

I can't remember which coffee I had, but it was a traditional one (spiced with cardamom and ginger, maybe also cinnamon and clove) and I think the barista recommended the pour over version. I ordered it made with cream and it came hot and delicious. For breakfast, I went with his recommendation and tried the ful. It really hit the spot. This is a rich bean stew that you dip toasted slices of pita bread in. It's amazing comfort food ...skip the bagel and try it!

I decided to splurge and finished with a cardamom cake roll. This was ok, though the cake part was spongy and reminded me of angel food cake. I had expected it would be a little denser and the cream filling richer, but it wasn't a bad end...

It has cardamom and vanilla and on top of the creamy smoky espresso it is delish!!😊

I had almond milk instead of regular milk! Thanks for having alternative milk!

The drinks are great! We had a cortado, a ginger chili tisane, and a matcha latte and they were all really good!! Also a heart-shaped cakey.

The music they play is so relaxing and the decor is so cute!

The owners really care to give you a good experience.

I want to give a huge thank you to Aladdin for going above and beyond with outstanding customer service. I had lost my badge while visiting the café and called the next day to ask about it. Not only did Aladdin follow up with a text, but he also sent a photo to confirm it was the correct badge — such a thoughtful and professional gesture!

Aside from the excellent service, this coffee shop serves amazing coffee and pastries. A special shoutout to Nusaba, who also took great care of my order. Both Aladdin and Nusaba clearly know what they’re doing — they’re friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about the customer experience.

You’ve got to try their Coffee and pastries — delicious and affordable!
