Five Below — Local services in Ann Arbor

TL;DR Buyer Beware but some deals are better than the dollar store.

They lose one star because some things aren't worth $5 or the gas it takes to return them. For little things like a toothbrush holder that is better than something from a dollar store? YES For a battery pack to charge your smartphone? NO. I got a couple thin, pocket friendly, smaller capacity, well packaged lithium battery packs... they lasted half a dozen charge cycles before one was noticeably bulging. They always got uncomfortably warm and were never charged on anything but a hard surface. I got them as a gift for my mother and grandmother. They didn't get used immediately as they were for a holiday trip and given as gifts in August so although both failed miserably at being the backup I envisioned AND ARE UNSAFE, there was no returning them. On a better note, I got amazing cards here for several occasions, one being awesome enough I replaced the one I'd spent dollars more on for my grandmothers...

I love to shop at this location, It has more variety than the one closer to my home. The cashier was nice and welcoming.

BUT ONLY FOLLOWED ME TO THE BACK OF THE STORE AS IF I WAS GOING TO STEEL SOMETHING, I THOUGHT IT WAS RUDE AND SHE JUST WATCHED ME UNTIL OTHER CUSTOMERS CAME IN.

..I'm not sure how to feel about this and / or do. I don't believe employers feel or disapulne their crew enough for behaviors like this, and the customers never know if the problem was solved!

I also go to 5 below to get candy, a couple of face products, and maybe something else that I see that I haven't seen that I wanted.

I also purchase my phone mount from here because they always have what I'm looking for, and I haven't found one outside of the 5 below that is good.

Overall, I highly recommend this store. It was clean, well stocked and the staff was very kind. Whether you're looking for gifts for others (or yourself 😂), a snack or just to bum around, Five Below has some pretty good options at a low, reasonable price.

Going in, I didn't really know what Five Below sold beforehand, as I usually just stop in to buy a snack here and there. The t-shirts are not good quality and you can easily see through them, and for $5, that's expected. Most of the other items, however, are worth getting. Some items have original tags that are a lot more expensive than the $5 max they sell most items for. I was able to get a $14 astrology dictionary for $5 and found a lot of items I've been looking for online for a much cheaper price here.
