I ordered Agu Jjim for the first time as a to-go option. When placing my order, I inquired about the possibility of adjusting the spice level, and the staff kindly confirmed they could accommodate that request. I asked for a medium spice level, and I was thrilled to open the dish upon receiving it, especially since the restaurant had recently opened.
Upon tasting it, I found it absolutely delightful—truly perfect. The seasoning was just right, and the spiciness suited my palate perfectly. While I know I cannot replicate such wonderful flavors, I genuinely appreciate the effort that goes into the dish, and I would like to share a couple of suggestions for improvement.
I noticed that the bean sprouts seemed quite shriveled, which might indicate they were added too early in the cooking process. If they could be boiled or steamed separately and then mixed with the Agu Jjim, it might enhance the texture. Additionally, I felt the quantity of bean sprouts was somewhat lacking. Given that bean sprouts are relatively inexpensive, increasing the amount could make the dish appear more abundant.
I share these thoughts with the hope that the restaurant continues to thrive. Overall, this Agu Jjim is the best I have enjoyed in Annandale, and it stands out among the Agu Jjim I've had in the U.S. The freshness of the fish was exceptional as well. I wish the restaurant...
Read moreMy husband and I went to this place because he wanted to treat me and it seemed like had good review online. I was pregnant at that time and had to avoid raw fish with high mercury. I tried to abstain from eating Sashimi but since it was special occasion my husband decided to take me to a sashimi place. We asked for 회덮밥, but they said they don't have that and kept on insisting us to have a big meal with sashimi platter. My husband wanted to really treat me so he listened to the waitress and asked if we could just have certain kind of sashimi and not the ones with high mercury explaining that I am pregnant. The waitress rudely said "No." and the guy who seemed to be the chef in the back asked the waitress "What is their problem?" in Korean, which I understood because I am fluent in Korean. The woman replied, "They only would eat certain fish not our menu." The guy laughed and shook his head. At that point I pulled my husband and left the restaurant and went to the one next door. They had what we wanted, and was very kind to take out the kind of sashimi I wasn't allowed to eat. We had far better experience there. I understand they do not often get guests with specific needs like I was, but this was not at all the kind of...
Read moreI ordered a menu that included sashimi, a broiled fish and fish soup. The waitress gave me sashimi and fish soup and they were tasty and I enjoyed them. I waited for a broiled fish but it never came. I thought I was mistaken and asked the waitress about it and she told me the grill stopped working. Then she suggested me to have some sushi rolls instead and asked me if I could eat them since I was full.
I was surprised by what she said. She should have told me about the grill and suggested other item when I ordered the menu. In my opinion what the waitress said and did was not honest and professional.
I am adding this after reading the owner's apology.
It wasn't an issue the grill stopped working and the fish was not served. The issue was the waitress didn't tell me the grill's situation until the last moment when I was about to leave. If I didn't ask about it she would have ignored me. Later I asked the cashier what the broiled fish would be and she told me it would be a Pacific saury. I expected to get a broiled croaker or a mackerel.
The menu said a fish and it would be a Pacific saury!
It was the first time I went and that would it. I gave one more star because of the...
