Super cute coffee shop in Annandale, but the iced latte drinks are just ok. I tried both the banalatte and the butterscotch latte. They seem to use a lot of milk in their drinks so it's hard to taste the coffee which is extremely unfortunate. If they could figure out the balance better, that would be a great improvement. The pastries are not made in-house; they're ordered from some place and delivered "fresh every day". I tried the pumpkin bread and it seems to taste exactly as the one you can get at Peet's. I also got the Teddy's No1 house special sandwich, and it was very tasty.
Seating is ample enough, but on a Thursday afternoon, the place was packed, and there was nowhere to sit. Everyone had their laptops out which meant many stayed there for hours working so I would suggest getting there early if you want to get a seat. The music is very loud so itâs hard to have a conversation if youâre here with someone to talk or listen in on meetings. The power outlets are awkwardly spaced out. In one section where there are 4 tables in a row, the only two power outlets are placed at either end of the section, directly behind two tables, instead of placed in between the tables. This means if you are sitting in the two middle tables, you have to ask to reach in between someone's legs to be able to plug in. Which someone had to do to me, which I didn't mind, but I could tell she felt awkward asking and this could have been easily avoided.
Overall, this place is very nice for its cute aethestics, but I would not recommend getting the iced lattes or the pastries here. I would recommend the sandwiches here based on the one sandwich I got. If you want good coffee, I would recommend going to DRiP CĂ PhĂȘ - Espresso Bar on Annandale Road just...
Read moreUnderdog Coffee & Bread is an outstanding café on Columbia Pike in Annandale, and I immediately fell in love with its atmosphere upon entering. The striking interior design features vibrant plants in pots, sleek white walls with panels, natural wood tones, and a minimalistic aesthetic that exudes simplicity and charm. The welcoming vibe makes it the perfect spot for an afternoon coffee break or a delightful breakfast or brunch with exceptional caffeinated drinks. The staff is friendly, and orders are made efficiently. I was captivated by every aspect of this café.
One of their signature coffee drinks, the Iced Banana Latte, showcased a solid coffee experience with fresh banana flavorânot overly sweet, but wonderfully pleasant. It stands apart from other drinks by avoiding artificial banana flavor or syrup. Another signature coffee drink, the Butterscotch Latte has a creamy delight with rich butterscotch flavor that pairs beautifully with their fresh pastries. Earl Grey Pound Cake is perfectly balancedânot too sweet, not heavy, and boasts a subtle Earl Grey flavor. It's wonderfully moist without being overly dense. Their apple Danish is filled with luscious apple compote, which complements the coffee...
Read moreI went here when they first opened, I had the banana latte and it was great! I wanted to come back since I am a college student that is in finals season and I thought this was a perfect place to go study.
I came back the 2nd time today but this time I had a big workload so I wanted to try to finish my work before even thinking of ordering. I guess I was there toooo long? (I was there 11am-2:00pm) I had no intention in taking up space but one of the worker or owner came up to me and asked me if i had ordered anything. I told her no. She then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't stay there if i didnt order anything. Ofc I remained calmed and started packing my stuff but I was really taken aback because she also said "this isnt those kind of places" whatever that means...
Unless I am mistaken there was no sign about seating time limits or anything. Im not even the type to write reviews but that had to be the most interesting experience I've ever had at a coffee shop. I wont be coming back again because that was very unwelcoming. GOOD BANANLATTE THO LOL! just dont come if u plan on doing a high...
