I have been going to Juke Box off and on for decades. When my Mom was alive, I took her to Juke Box often being her caretaker during most of her nineties. Her favorite sandwich was always their Reuben. Most importantly, their staff was always kind and courteous to my mother. In particular, Ash and his sister catered to my mother and even brought out a cake after our meal singing Happy Birthday as I shared that fact entering the restaurant. This was totally unexpected and appreciated by both my mother and I.
The food at Juke Box is always good. On Thanksgiving, they will serve a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner just like home cooked with real, not processed, turkey, including stuffing and all the traditional sides. Desserts are important if you can find the room for it. Pecan Pie was split between me and a friend once after our Thanksgiving Dinner one year. For those who cannot enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner with family, Juke Box serves a real need in our local community by doing it their way. Frankly, they love and care about their Customers which goes beyond simply giving good Customer Service.
Today, I went to Juke Box for my New Year's breakfast. My servers were Parv and Janet. I have known Janet for a long time. Before I left, I talked to Oscar, one of the owners. He said they have been in business for over 30 years. Janet, nearby, brought up my mother whom I took there long ago. I told Oscar my current observations of how incredible the service is noting how his servers were busy doing their jobs knowing Customers by name, knowing their circumstances, etc which creates “regulars” because of the extra special personal touch his team provides.
The restaurant was busy despite the Covid precautions they must implement and they do a great job protecting their Customers. I read other reviews noting that not everyone is pleased. I then realized how tough the restaurant business can be and with Covid, many went under.
Still, many restaurants have survived despite this pandemic. They survived by persistence, perseverance, and adopting the changes required. Juke Box’s personalized Customer Service built their business. Because of this style, they will thrive in the year...
Read moreThe most important thing I like about this place is its ambience. It gives you feeling that you are sitting in old-fashioned Diner, which very much reflects in its painting (murals) depicting old era (truly back to 50s'). As usual, my public health training in New York always instigate me to look for cleanliness first. I found this place super-clean and, also, the rest room was well maintained. In addition, if you fantasize of being polyglot-tic at any point of time, I would suggest experiencing this eatery, you might end up with broaching up conversation in many languages. I ordered chicken Fajita omelet from breakfast menu. My order was served with French fries, omelet, chicken pieces and one seasoning. It was delicious, divine and ambrosial; Service was quick, and server was friendly and polite. Customers are mostly local White Americans. I had brief conversation with senior lady who has been to venue for more than 15 years. I had Chicken Fajita Omelet many times at IHOP , and I tried it at various locations. There is no as such comparison, both are different in their tastes, and I like both. I also tried steak and egg, steak was super grilled and egg were scrambled, good combo! Even though JBD is a diner, and it has enriched breakfast menu; it is a nice place for Lunch and...
Read moreI wish I could leave a more positive review, but I can’t lie and I won’t! My family of 5 are in town for my graduation and chose Juke box for breakfast at 1030am. First impression was a cute place from the exterior! Walked in and had a very brash and unkind greeting from an elderly man in a mask. He was unfriendly to start and that poor attitude we received was throughout the remainder of our short time. After we sat, we had to go hunt for a waiter to get service, which just so happened to be this unhappy man! He takes the order in a disgruntled manner, like we interrupted his Friday! I continued to review the menu as it is so large and he snatched the menu from me as he walked off with our order to never return! After 10 min of us waiting on coffee and other beverages, we decided to leave! There was no need to wait at this point bc not only was my family not welcomed, but we also couldn’t receive what we came for - drinks, food or service! Maybe some of my family was too dark for his liking since everyone else in the restaurant was light like myself! Whatever the reason for this unkind man, there’s never an excuse to Give poor service to anyone when you are in the SERVICE industry! He needs to be behind the scenes, not in the front!...
