It's been many years since my last visit to Maggiano's. I don't know why I waited so long! I still love this place just as much as I did way back when. For this visit, I introduced my husband, who is a West Coast transport, to Maggiano's to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. After a hectic morning, we just wanted a quiet lunch with some good food.
When we arrived, we were promptly seated and our waitress arrived to take our drink orders in no time. I wish I had written this review sooner so that I could tell you her name. She was a sweetheart -- attentive and respectful of our social space, as my husband and I enjoyed each other's conversation. I appreciated her help with making menu selections, especially since I brought my husband there to enjoy his favorite seafood pasta dish that was not on the lunch menu.
The timing of our appetizers and entrees was perfect. Our food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful just as I remembered being a key part of Maggiano's service. I am eager to return for branzino with crab imperial, cooked to perfection. Lobster sauce with mashed potatoes, and asparagus with that hint of sweetness grilled vegetables get -- oh man, I'm drooling at the thought. My husband was thrilled with his linguine di mare. The fact that the portion was big enough to shock him was saying a lot because he could pack away that dish. We both took home leftovers, something I always loved about Maggiano's.
The food was great, no question. The primary reason that motivated me to write this review was the service we received from our waitress and the manager. Again, I wish I could tell you their names. They made our anniversary celebration so special and memorable. Without being intrusive in our intimate conversation, they acknowledged our celebration by making sure we were comfortable and had whatever we needed to enjoy our meal. You might think this is typical of most restaurants, but the genuine care they showed was heartfelt and still appreciated to this day.
We were thrilled with the celebratory chocolate cheesecake and strawberries presented to us. That made my day especially since I had been wanting chocolate-covered strawberries but forgot about them in all my rushing to take care of life obligations. If that wasn't enough, they presented us with a card that was signed by the staff that served us that day. Let me tell you, it was the personal touches and generosity that made this experience so special for us.
Kudos to Maggiano's Little Italy in Annapolis Mall! Amazing people are serving us there. Go see them as soon as you can! Lunch is an especially great time to visit. You'll be so...
Read moreThis review is about the service only as the food wad amazing!
My family and I visited Maggiano's last week. It was a party of 8 people. We were told prior to making the reservation we all had to pick the family style menu.
First of all, we went to Maggiano's because the food is great however, none of us wanted the family style because we all like something different. I don't like pasta, my sister is allergic to fish, and my brother cannot eat chicken, so you see the problem.
We all can find something that we do like however, when trying to put together a menu for a large group it can be hectic however, we did it. But on to my next question, "If you make a reservation, are you required to select the entire menu and submit it prior to 10am the next day?"
We were told that we needed to select our food choices, and submit them prior to 10am the next day or our reservation would be cancelled. So we did it but not happy about it.
Next, we arrive and are seated. Great atmosphere, great seating however, where's the food? We told the staff we're ready to eat. Since we were forced to select our menu in advanced, why did it take so long for the food arrive?
The salad arrived and we had to wait 10 minutes for the garlic bread. They were supposed to arrive together. When we inquired about it, we were told it's coming. By the time it arrived, we were moving on to the next course.
Everything was totally off! We had 4 dishes arrive at the same time. I'm still confused why it took so long especially since we were forced to preselect our menu.
However, to top it off, two of my family members had weight loss surgery, so they packed their food up to go because they cannot eat a lot however, that didn't stop some of the servers engaging in gossip about my family. I was going to explode however, since it was at the end of the meal when i heard about it, we simply paid and left. Considering that we live closer to the Maggiano's in DC, we drove all the way out to Annapolis for the service, well that won't ever happen again.
I definitely won't be returning to this location ever again. So disappointed that my family was forced into a menu that we had to select prior to arriving, the slow service with the food arriving, and being talked about.
This was definitely not worth my time, the drive, and considering we did this after church has put a bad taste in my mouth for...
Read moreI usually LOVE Maggiano's. Particularly for the great care they give me with wheat allergy. They usually send someone over to ask about the details of my allergy and tell me all about how they will prepare my meal safely. Last visit, they even offered me gf rolls which I didn't know they had but made me love Mag's even more. But, today, the waitress took my order, which was the same thing I order every single time, chicken piccata with gf pasta. Usually as soon as I say gluten free they send someone over. But not today, she took my order and left. I told my husband I didn't feel comfortable with the waitress since she didn't seem to bat an eyelash at my gf pasta. As soon as the meal came out, it looked like there was a coating of some sort on my chicken, which being the gf version, should have been grilled, and sauce was thicker the usual gf version, so we called her over and the manager who was standing with her came, too. We asked if there was flour on the chicken and the manager said yes. We explained that I had an allergy and requested gf pasta and the waitress very nonchalantly said "that is gf pasta"...we explained that we knew just by looking at it that there was flour on the chicken and in the sauce, and she once again just said that's gf pasta. First, why I "prefer" gf cardboard over Mag's delish pasta. And, Second, her very nonchalant attitude really took me off guard. I don't think she realizes how sick I would have gotten had I mistakenly eaten wheat. Anyway, we explained again that we are used to someone immediately coming over as soon as there is a gf request. The manager apologized and took my plate away and made me a fresh plate of grilled chicken and gf pasta. My husband noticed that the pasta looked different than the first plate, so I am not even sure I got gf pasta the first time. I wasn't going to complain or post about this but it's a safety issue and someone could get very sick if the staff is not properly trained,. I've been gf for over 10 years and this is the first time in many years of eating at Maggiano's that I've ever...
