If I could rate 0 stars, I would. What an absolute waste of $15.61. My meal was maybe worth 7 or 8 bucks - and that's only if they fixed what was wrong with it.
The pros:
There was ample meat. In fact, I'd recommend serving 2x pita. I'd rather eat 2x gyro each with moderate meat rather than one with "extra" meat.
The singular pita was soft and delicious.
The cons:
The meat was bland and dry.
There were no tomatoes for the gyro. There were 2 tiny, very thin half slices in my salad, but definitely not enough for both salad and a gyro. Imo, if there were 4-6 additional slices it would have been great.
There were no onions for the gyro. None. SMH. There were maybe 4 or 5 tiny slivers of onions mixed in either the salad. I had to pick them out of the salad and place them on my gyro. Imo, there should be 1/8 of a sliced onion - not 1/100th.
So, basically I ate a bunch of meat on a pita with nothing else. The cucumber sauce was neither good nor bad. There were 2 sauces. One was enough.
The young lady who took my order wasn't exactly rude, but was FAR from friendly. I attempted to excitedly introduce myself stating that I had just moved in to the neighborhood a few days ago. I tried to be friendly and ask questions. I got a blank stare back at me. I was, at the time, the only customer in line to order food.
If this is the best Chicago has to offer, there must not be any competition in Chicago.
Save your money. Go somewhere - anywhere - else. I know a GREAT place in Mesa, AZ off of Country Club just north...
Read moreOk....I'm from Chicago and my wife and i consider ourselves Chicago beef fanatics and if ur from Chicago then you'll probably get these references, but our favorite beefs from there are Mr.beef and Al's beef and Romas on Cicero ave. Anyway this was the closest we have found to these beef sandwiches since we have been in Arizona. We did find a Rosatis at 59th ave and union hills that is owned by transplanted Chicagoans and is very good so if u cant make it out to Mesa, this is definitely worth a try. But Chicago's #1 Gyros is fantastic from the flavor of the beef to the correct mixture in the hot giardiniera peppers. Then we tried the gyros and were again absolutely impressed. Of coarse the meat was cooked on a spit like it is supposed to be (i cant believe how many "authentic" gyros places have pre-packaged meat that they microwave or heat up in a frying pan...shame on you) and we always ask for our meat to be cooked well done so that means after they slice it off the spit, they fry it on the grill for a bit. Not only were they happy to do it but they did it perfectly. Also the zeti sauce on the gyros was excellent too!!😀 havent tried the hot dogs (yet) but my friend who took me there the first time says they are great!!! So...the food is great and the place itself is worth checking out with all the Chicago motiff all over the...
Read moreMarch 30 Went in after placing an order and I usually get food here once a week since I discovered their tasty food so I know usually it’s a 10 to 20 min wait. 9/10 do I arrive in time and I still wait another 5 to 10 min, depending on traffics and that’s okay, I’m okay with that’s. So it was surprising and disappointed to me that on one occasion that I’m running late, and for finishing work btw, I get yelled at and embarrassed in front of other customers. Of course,I had defended myself and had yelled back at the cook but when the guy working on the register ( blonde with medium length hair and circle glasses) had told me that they had to pull apart my meal to do other customers meals, I had told him it was okay and yet he gets all attitude on me and proceeded to go to the cook and the cook began to yell at me for being late!? Okay for what? I wasn’t mad about waiting because like I said, I loved their food, but that had to be one of the worse experience I had in customer service. Definitely never going there again and I hope the night crew improves on their customers services because I wouldn’t want anyone else to get treated the way I...
