High Five Dive Bar — Restaurant in Apalachicola

We were visiting Apalachicola and were looking for a good place to have a beer and listen to a good band in the evening. We stopped in here during the day about the time they were opening so we were the first there with the exception of the owners and staff. We struck up a conversation with the owners and were told they'd have a good band that night and were encouraged to come back that night. Looking around, I noticed the place was decorated with military branch flags and during the conversation with the owner discovered he was in the US Navy. Being retired US Army, we were impressed with their respect of the military and the beer was good and cold and reasonably priced. So we went back to the hotel and relaxed for a bit with intentions of going back that evening.

That evening we returned to find the place packed, which wasn't a problem and when the band cranked up, we were not disappointed. They were great and played a range of music which appealed to pretty much everyone there. The owners welcomed us back and we stayed until the band finished playing and we finally called it quits also and returned to our rooms.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, the service, and the very reasonably priced beer. We can't wait until we get the opportunity to return.

After dinner in downtown, we wanted to explore the town. After driving around, we fortuitously discovered this bar. My wife is from Brazil and she said she wanted to explore. We had our dog with us and were able to walk right in. This place is nothing short of AMAZING! They had a country band playing and they were awesome. Most importantly, my wife absolutely loved the decor, the ambiance, the music, and the entire experience. She is a big Brazilian country music fan and is now a huge American Country music fan. Came down to check out the area. Having my wedding on ST George island in April. The high five dive Bar is more than a bar. Met the owner. He’s as cool as you can get. The bar is not just a bar. It’s based around family, history and meaning with live music 3 of the 6 nights I was in the area. It doesn’t have the foofy umbrella drinks like some other dude was complaining about but who the hell cares.
