Have you ever thought "I could use a Mango Lassi with my burger?" Well, by reading the words I just typed I-in a way-forced you to ask yourself that question. You're welcome.
Today I stopped at PIZZA KARMA in Apple Valley for their lamb burger. The first time I stopped in I got their pizza because... well... pizza is in the name, and before I get to the burger, their pizza is solid. Indian flavors on a pie was not something I even knew I needed in my life, but it turns out I had a pizza-with-Indian-flavors-shaped hole in my heart.
Now, to the burger.
Their website says it's a lamb patty infused with almonds and cardamom. The thick patty was very flavorful. It's also very texturally different from what you'd expect from a normal beef patty. There's a bit of a snap to it that evokes an almost sausage quality to it. The first analogue that popped into my head is a Serbian Pljeskavica. The robust crust from the pan frying and the spices in the patty made that the element that stood out the most, and rightfully so.
The bun is toasted in ghee, and the toppings are mayo, mozzarella, tomato, cucumbers, Iceberg shredduce, and pickled onions. All of the elements worked very nicely together, but I would have preferred a bit less mayo and a bit more pickled onion to make the burger a bit more balanced. An employee told me they have a chipotle mayo it can be ordered with as well. I'll probably go this route next time for the bit of heat and acid.
The burger held together reasonably well structurally, and my hands stayed reasonably clean throughout my lunch.
The fries are their masala fries. The seasoning is delicious, and I'm a fiend for skin-on fries. I just need to order an extra sauce next time.
Mango Lassi was delicious and refreshing on this hot afternoon.
I recommend giving this burger a try, but just about anything I've had from their menu...
Read moreIf you haven't tried Pizza Karma yet, you're missing out! For our first order, we decided to get 3 pizzas, chicken wings, and fries just to try a bunch of stuff out. We elected delivery and the food arrived lightning fast, which was a great intro.
Pizzas are all thin crust. All of the pizzas were good, but the pear and hot honey pizza has to be immediately called out because it was truly phenomenal. It's hard to exactly describe the savory/sweet combination of flavors - to me it was a perfect blend of the pear, garlic, honey, and cheese. My boyfriend really enjoyed the shrimp pizza (I'm not a shrimp eater and was weirded out by the idea of shrimp on pizza, but I will admit that the pizza looked good when we got it out). I liked the chicken kebab pizza too, especially seeing the fresh bell peppers baked right into the top. This pizza had good flavors and the spice was pretty mild (I'd love to see some spicier options on the menu someday!)
The Tikka chicken wings were SO GOOD. Dry rub and served with a pretty forgettable dipping sauce, the wings themselves are visually super appealing and packed with flavor. Definitely will add these to my pizza orders in the future.
The fries were free because we spent over $30 - they were good fries and well seasoned, and you should ask for an extra side of their dipping sauce because it's awesome and you won't want to share it. If your options are limited, I'd skip the fries in favor of something else mentioned above.
Total price including tax, delivery and tip was $64, which we'd easily spend on dinner out for 2 people, and our feast could have easily fed 4. We'll definitely...
Read moreI know this place is new so I’m giving them grace here. Our family of 6 went to try this for dinner. Out receipt printed at 5:36pm. It was a big order so we didn’t except super fast service. The pizza came out within 15 min, the masala fries (so good) about 10min after that. Three groups came in after us and all got their food before us. In fact, one couple next to us got brought a sandwich and opened it and declared it wasn’t his so they took it back. (We believe that was our lamb burger we received 15 min later, cold.) It was 6:10 when I received my tandoori wrap (it was delicious) another five min went by and my daughter got the Vada Pav which the waiter said was the chicken sandwich. 🤷♀️ Then the cold lamb burger for my son came out and all we were waiting for was my daughters potato cake sandwich. The waiter asked if that was finally everything and we said no, we still needed one more, and 10 min later the potato cake appetizer appeared. I explained that it was wrong, that we ordered the sandwich and even showed him the receipt. He responded that they do not have a potato cake sandwich. 🤔 So, although we did get, mostly, what we ordered, it came out over the course of 50 minutes. So they really need to figure that out.
Earlier in the week my coworker and I ordered carry out pizzas and both really enjoyed them. We had the coconut shrimp pizza and...
