There's a new ayce hot pot spot in the SGV and here's why I thought it is worth visiting:
Food: I thought the food was great! The ingredients were fresh and the meat was very good. I chose the prime option that gives you endless American Wagyu beef and seafood such as tiger shrimp and abalone. This is probably the first spot I've ever had that gives you the option of "all you can eat" with abalone. Many places I've been would have abalone as a "limited" item where I would be able to order 1 order of it. If you aren't familiar, abalone is a valued Chinese delicacy that is usually quite pricey. The fact that the seafood was also fresh and didn't have a fishy taste made the food worth it in my opinion.
Service: I think because this spot is still quite new, it wasn't too busy and it wasn't hard for me to be able to get the food I need in the self serve area. Their self service included drinks, greens, sauce and so much more. In addition my server, Daisy, was super attentive. She made sure I had enough soup in my pot and always came by when my tabled looked a bit empty to see if I wanted additional items.
Lastly, this spot is quite small, but I love that it is clean. If you are someone who can eat a lot, I think you can definitely get your money's worth with their high...
Read moreIndeed, I was dining alone for lunch today. 101 Pot was a place I saw online some weeks back and wanted to try. It helped that the weather was so cold, too. Finally stepped in today, and I'm so glad I did! They do use paper plates and bowls, so if you're looking for a more formal setting, this might not be it. I got a bunch of oysters, abalone, mussels, and beef. Although I've been to many other hot pot places in SGV, none of them offer seafood as they do here, with the exception of just fish fillets.
Since I had a choice of two broths, I ordered the sweet and sour and tomato. What's more, I loved how flavorful both of them were. I did not even need to add anything else to either. My only complaint was that the pot is a bit too small to cook many different dishes efficiently, but I guess that's the style they were going for.
I really hope that this place survives. Of course, I would love to come back if craving hot pot and seafood. It was a smart idea to put it in El Monte because this surrounding neighborhood doesn't really have too much Asian food.
EDIT: I have returned after a long break, and I am so impressed. 101 moved to their new location across from Arcadia Library. They have actual plates now! The whole joint looks and feels so much classier than...
Read morePerfect spot for literal AYCE HOTPOT! For 32.99 you get unlimited meat and seafood on their selection! Add a little bit more and around 50, you get the wagyu selection and other additional seafood! We chose the 32.99 menu cos we were ok with pork belly and brisket, and fish and shrimp! Nevertheless, everything is fresh and taste high quality. I love that they included drinks to the package, so much better than have to pay for it separately! The build your own sauce is great, and I like mine with garlic, chilli pepper, scallions, sesame sauce, shacha sauce and soy sauce! We need rice in our life and the wagyu beef rice is an amazing pair to all the meat and seafood but it's also really good on its own!
Also another amazing thing to add is kids under 100 cm eat for FREE, and 50 percent for kids from 100-135 cm!
Best thing about 101 for me is the UNLIMITED ICE CREAM? With so many flavor...
