El Tapatio Restaurant holiday dr — Restaurant in Ardmore

While the experience I had last night was, by all accounts, one of the most entertaining dinners I’ve had in years, it was out of pure satire. Last night was the second time I’d been to this restaurant. The first time, I assumed was a bad night for the staff and wasn’t really bothered by it, however, the second experience essentially mirrored the spirit of the first in that not a single member of staff seems to care about their job.

The first time we went, we sat for 5 minutes after getting our food before we were able to flag someone down and ask for silverware (this was after waiting 15 minutes after we got our drinks and another server had to come and take our order). The second time around, I felt extremely confident no staff member would protest anyone doing part of their job for them, and grabbed silverware from the front myself. It’s a small thing really, but kind of a staple to eating a meal.

Aside from the apathetic staff and the disappearing act they’ve mastered between being flagged down by guests for more drinks, chips, tortillas that come with the meal, or anything else you shouldn’t really have to ask for, the food was exquisitely bland. I could care less about food presentation, but elementary lunch ladies working minimum wage put more heart into the splat on the plate. We dubbed the nachos I ordered “nacho soup” based on the excessive amount of cheese liquid (not queso) at the bottom of the plate. Whatever meal my friend ordered was meat thrown on a massive palte of rice and a jalapeño dusted with seasoning salt for no apparent reason. There is literally no love in any of this food and it is abundantly clear that not a single person in the kitchen cares. Both my friend and I had stomach cramps and diarrhea until the next day.

I genuinely don’t care about having a bad experience at a restaurant, it happens, and as long as the food makes up for it, I can definitely overlook a surly, apathetic staff. However, the only redeeming qualities were the prices and the queso, which is not enough to ever get me back into this reastaurant. We’re not from Oklahoma, we’re from the DFW area, so maybe we’re just spoiled by TexMex and broader options, but food should never make you sick and you should never be able to tell someone’s level of IDGAF based on the food...

Wow this place has some good as food. Can't believe they actually give you your money's worth to. My new Fav..... Some many hateful comments below off topic. This is about food keep it that way. I will go to a hole in the wall to get great food I dont care what it looks like or how others customers look. Food this good is hard to find... If you dont like go spend twice as much on some flavorless food that you seem to love because this place here does. Food right you all judging waiters and other b.s. like really??? But you all love your food. Im a truck driver I've been to 45 off 48 states and most dont come close to this food or price you all are so ungrateful shame on you.... To the person who complained there waiter didnt come back did you ever take a moment to think he probably wasn't you server but cover your table because you original waiter was busy so he pal probably to him to go ahead and cash it out since he helped him... What two waiters work out is between them, mind your own business and eat you food you will live...

The food was seriously the worst food I've ever paid for! They served a pile of refried beans as a chalupa and when asked if thats what it was suppose to be, (because we thought maybe they forgot it, it was getting late) and they said that was the chalupa! I wish I had a picture to show you but we just wanted out of there. Also the taste of the food, all of it was foul. The ground beef really tasted like what can dog food smells like. The pico de gallo was not fresh, mush, watery and the white queso dip you have to pay extra for was the worse queso ever. Cold clumpy. It was like a paste. The entire experience was terrible. Unfortunately this was my 4th time in a 5 year period to eat here and its really unfortunate this is my experience everytime I've ate here! I won't be waisting my money again! Best of luck to everyone else. Im sure not everyone has a bad experience. The waiter immediately seemed offended when asked about the food. And the tortillas were cold and hard couldn't even bite them...
