El Tapatio Restaurant — Restaurant in Ardmore

The worst restaurant, I went two weeks ago, they make me wait 25 minutes without bringing anything, I asked for some chicken wings to start and then the waiter comes to tell me that they are going to delay my order because they got a large order by phone and that they had to rush it out before mine. They had 3 tables in total in the whole restaurant and the rest was empty !!! I told the waiter, hey, I arrived earlier, that is lack of respect!!! They are supposed to take the orders as they arrive! but it does not seem to be happening here at this location. Then the waiter tells me, let me talk to the cook ..... 15 more minutes pass and he comes to tell me: "The order is going to take longer they are still working on the special order. I got up and told him to cancel everything. I wen to the checkout and told the person in charge what happened! And instead of offering an apology and to be sorry for the incident and the waste of my time, I stated "that large orders have priority and that "I must wait" and I said seriously! You don't have customers in the restaurant and they can't handle a small order during all this time? What kind of quality of service do they provide? And he got angry !!! The El Tapatio on Commerce definitely is the one that ups it game ! Excellent veggie options too!) The food is always excellent and the place is usually packed . Staff is super nice the place is clean -the food ? Oh my !! Salsa verde is awesome.-if you’ve been disappointed in other green salsas you won’t be this one .For those who like heat you can get habanero salsa by request. The grilled serranos are addicting. Idk what they season them with but I’ll get a full order for myself . ( You can get grilled jalapeños and onions mixed or as is too ). Everything is good here .Meat or veggie . For my vegetarian friends -their veggie fajitas are a must . They will let you choose cheese and onion enchiladas vs meat . Wonderful selection of food for everyone. Good menu for kids too . I have eaten at both restaurants in Ardmore and generally speaking, both have good food and good service.

I highly recommend the Carnitas Ala Mexicana and the Fajita Especial El Tapatio. The carnitas are served with a ranchero sauce that is fairly spicy and has an excellent flavor. The fajitas have a mix of chorizzo, beef , chicken and shrimp and together they have a great flavor.

The tortillas appear to be homemade, which is a really nice touch. The chips are good, possibly made in-house. Even if neither the tortillas or chips are home made, they at least taste like it. The salsa has a good flavor and texture. The beans and rice side dishes are also pretty good.

Although I've been to better Mexican restaurants in California and Texas, El Tapaitio is still very good. Although I gave them four stars, this should be considered to be a very strong four stars, not quite 5 stars. but well worth your...
