This review is just for their breakfast. It wasn't horrible, but in an attempt to make sure nothing was burnt or overcooked, just about everything was undercooked to my own preference. The biscuits were entirely too fresh and with gravy added they always become soggy that way. Whereas if they are browned a little more and left out for a couple hours they accept gravy a lot more slowly and add more flavor. The hashbrowns were shoe string potatoes and they were just cooked on one side which means that 70 percent of them were left uncooked. Stirring them even seldom while cooking will fix this problem. I eat off the browned part and usually just leave the slimy uncooked part, and most places do this as well, which is why I'm always a little disappointed to find that a place only does shoe string potatoes. It is such an easy problem to fix and it really can be easily done without burning any part of the hashbrowns, it just takes a little more care, and I seemed to observe that care seemed to be a little lacking in every part of the dish. Their meat and eggs were acceptable and cooked to a correct temperature, though, here again, I like my bacon and sausage with a little bit of gristle, and I like my eggs cooked in that gristle. I've been in search of an amazing breakfast place, and I think I've been a little spoiled with breakfast places in other cities. My wife says I'm way too picky. That may mean this review should be taken with salt, but I am still on the hunt, as it were. This place has a perfectly acceptable breakfast but I probably won't...
Read moreI have now been here for literally every meal of the day, and for any meal this place does not disappoint!
For breakfast, I have had either the French Toast bfast sandwich or the Bfast Burrito add avo...and both are pretty damn tasty! The coffee is drinkable (moreso than other bfast places I have frequented in the area) and I have even had a Blue Moon w/my 11am weekday "brunch" w/o judgement from the very courteous staff!
For Lunch I have had their reuben and I have to say as a Reuben Oficiando, they do theirs right and the corned beef here is so flavorful, I have eaten it straight off the sandwich itself!
For dinner I have had their cheeseburger, which is solid and I really like that they have some local seasonal brews (usually bottle only, though they did have Kilt Lifter on draft). I discovered a Nimbus here that was surprisingly good!
As for dessert, I have only ever had their cinnamon rolls, which my Mom was a big fan of, so now I try to have one every time I stop by in her honor.
Again, I have to give kudos to their staff! They have always been quick to come and take our order, have always accommodated any requests and some are even entertaining (if you get Zach as your waiter you'll understand what I'm talking about).
I have even done take-out with them and they were so quick about getting the take-out ready and the order correct and even offered me water while I was waiting.
In any case, Grumpy's is a reasonably priced go to...
Read moreBeen here several times and really enjoy it. This isn’t fine dining but nobody said it was. But the food QUALITY? It’s outstanding in my opinion. And the service is great, I mean great. We usually have Heidi as our server and she does a fantastic job. Remembered our favorites after ONE visit and now it’s an ongoing thing. She is sweet, friendly, easy to talk to, really excellent at timing (check on drinks, check on food, additional condiments, etc.), and manages to keep a lot of people happy simultaneously (she’s got a lot of regulars who are her fans, understandably). And she’s flexible with substitutions and things like that.
I really haven’t had anything I didn’t like, and I’ve loved a lot of dishes, particularly the buffalo chicken wrap, the club sandwich, the burger, turkey wrap, southwest wrap. Fries are crispy and delicious. Even the onion rings are good - not too greasy, and not humongous like some are. You can cut them the the onion won’t slither out of the breading. Chicken wings are excellent, and pretzels are a standout - crispy brown outside, moist chewy inside, just the right amount of salt, and great cheese sauce to dip. We often get them to go and eat the wings in the restaurant.
Happy hour is a great deal, wine prices and selection are excellent.
It’s in a strip mall with plenty of parking, I like the location at Shannon & Ina.
It’s a go-to, I’ll...
