This is the second time I come to eat at this restaurant since October of 2019. The first thing I noticed as soon as I walked in, no one came to hold the heavy door open for us despite the fact that there were several servers who saw us, and a greeter at the door. I take care of my uncle who’s missing a leg and is in a wheel chair. Fortunately, I know how to maneuver the wheel chair, regardless. We were escorted to the table afterwards within a few minutes. Apparently, what is served here is authentic Mexican food. In my opinion, not all of the food is authentic. For example, I’ve been to many Mexican restaurants, and I know that Mexican rice is yellow not white with vegetables. They fell short on that one. What we ordered consisted of combination burrito that came with beans, rice, only a half of a tomato slice, and a small amount of lettuce that you could hardly see on the plate. The second serving of chips looked like they had been overcooked. Some tasted stale. On our way out, I passed a couple of servers. None of them came to offer to open the door for us, again, not even the young lady that greeted us at the door. Looks like the young people working here have little sense of courtesy, let alone common sense. I’ll think twice before I eat here again! Great customer service is...

How on earth does this place have 4.5 stars?! I ordered a taco salad with shrimp. Pretty basic right. When I ordered I asked if it was possible to add shrimp to the taco salad and she said yea that it would be the garlic shrimp. Great! Wrong. It was probably the nastiest thing I’ve ever received at a restaurant. It was a few fried taco bowl filled to the brim with what I assume was tomato pasta sauce. I tried to eat it and ended up sending it back and ordering shrimp tacos instead. I kept the shrimp from the salad and when we went to check out they had not removed the salad price from our bill because I kept the shrimp. She said “I saw the salad and you kept the shrimp”… you’re telling me you SAW that nasty soup of a salad that was more liquid than anything and STILL are going to argue that it was passable. Honestly horrible. Delusional. Just charge me for the shrimp then! Anyways. Moral or the story is to skip this place at all costs. Bad food and even worse service. Edit to the company’s reply - you did not offer me a discount, you argued with me and I walked away. Never in my life would adding shrimp to a salad include adding 1.5 cups of marinara sauce also. Perhaps… just add shrimp? Also you will not be...

We have been going to Manuel's for over twenty years( No, we're not related to the family ! ). We've tried every Mexican Food Restaurant in the area and nothing ever compares to the food and service that we get at Manuel's. If there is ever something that we consider is not right with our food because of our preference, they have always gone out of their way to make sure that we are happy with our food. They'll always come to our table after we have started eating, asking if wanting a refill on our drinks, and ask us if everything is okay. The last visit my Steak was rare instead of medium. Our Server had the cook do another Steak for me and had me check it out afterwards to make sure that it was cooked how I like it. No place will ever be perfect, and each person tastes are different, no way can any place serve meals that will make everybody happy. But as far as for Manuel's, they have always, every single time in over twenty years, have gone out of their way to insure that we are a satisfied customer - Which is the reason why we will continue to eat at Manuel's Mexican...

Stopped in for lunch following the annual Tubac festival. Two plates, combination Burrito with Chili Verde and the crispy taco combo. Hot sauce not hot, chips were chips. Place seemed super clean, with plenty of staff – who all seemed to be ‘moving’ and keeping this place energized. Tables full around lunch. However, regarding entrees, this place missed the mark for us on both dishes. Not bad, just meh. Perhaps it is unfair to compare them against more authentic dishes in South Tucson, and based on the Green Valley clientele, I can’t help but wonder if the food has adapted to the local retiree population where spice and bold flavors aren’t as desired with an aging in place population. Absent 1/10 rating intervals, I’m dropping a solid 3. A 4 was within reach, but that rice was as ‘white rice’ as it gets…. It’s an ok stop and with the limited options is this area, perhaps I am underselling it!

The staff is super friendly hair and very attentive. The salsas both hot and mild have great flavor. However, the chips leave something to be desired. Nana's chips from the store would be a huge upgrade, although that is my gold standard and lots of restaurants use Nana's chips. The cheese enchilada was actually very good and the enchilada sauce had a great flavor to it. The beans were also pretty decent but could use a little more flavor. The white rice is exactly that it is white rice with some corn dropped into it and not a whole lot of flavor. I don't see how this rice passes as Mexican rice. I'm sorry but the rice is a major disappointment.

Authentic tasting! Very grateful to have had the opportunity to go here with my father-in-law. Chips and salsa made in house if I had to guess and very good. Cigarettes and food was great. Wait time to be seated there was hardly any and they turn tables over as quickly as you want. Meaning they don't rush you and want you to enjoy the experience. Food was fresh and had wonderful flavor bursts. I would recommend anyone trying this out that wants an authentic food tasting experience. If I recall correctly they even have something for breakfast. Father-in-law had a book club there the following morning we visited for lunch.
