Worst experience ever!!! And I’ve been to A LOT of little mom and pop restaurants!! But this place deserved a WARNING Review”. First off, I entered the restaurant and noticed that the sign said seat yourself. So I Saturday table closest to the window and furthest from the kitchen area. They must not have seen me because I waited nearly 15 to 20 minutes and then finally i called the restaurant itself To let them know I was sitting in the restaurant and if someone could come help me. After sitting there for a bit, I had to flag somebody down to come and take my order. Turns out she was the bus person and not even a waitress. I had to ask for Things like napkins, condiments, and water. When I finally got my food I realized I must have come on a day they ran out of seasoning as well, NOTHING had flavor. Now I’m a firm believer of letting the food speak for urself but this wasn’t the case. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it came smothered, I mean smothered in a pasty white sauce that barely resembles a what it described on the menu. I barely took two bites and realized this was not going to be good. The potatoes were cooked nicely but again had no flavor a little bit of salt and some pepper would have made a big difference. The egg was over cooked a bit but there was plenty of yoke. They did keep coming around and asking me if I wanted more coffee but they never once asked me how my meal was. I heard them asking other people but wondered if they purposely served me some thing that was completely inedible. Most of my potatoes because I season them with salt and pepper and catsup as well. I wouldn’t recommend the chicken fried steak nor would I recommend this restaurant because of its service but I might try it one more time to see if maybe the basics are worth a second trip. And one final note make sure to pay cash because they do charge a dollar for you to use...
Read moreWe love visiting small, local diners when we’re traveling and had high hopes for Mikey’s based on the reviews. We dropped in for breakfast on a Thursday and it was empty except for an elderly man wandering around who couldn’t find his car keys. My husband and I ordered a basic egg breakfast with potatoes, bacon and toast. There was absolutely no seasoning on any of the food, but at least they supplied a bottle of Tabasco on the table. The food wasn’t terrible, it was just bland. The coffee, on the other hand, was just awful, basically hot brown water for $3 a cup. The decor needs updating badly, it’s like stepping back into the 70’s to a place where your gramma used to like to go for Sunday lunch. The ladies room is used as a storage closet for 2 gallon buckets of something marked ‘caustic’. Now, the service was great and the folks were very friendly and attentive, always coming by with more of that coffee. The menu had lots of choices but I was intrigued by the dinner specials of the day, lots of down home items like liver and onions, and fish on Friday (of course). This restaurant did appear very clean, the carpet was vacuumed and the tables were bused and wiped down. It feels very much like an old neighborhood favorite, Mikey’s just really needs an updated dining room and restrooms and more thoughtful storage for chemicals other than around and in...
Read moreMikey’s is the kind of place my wife and I have been looking for. It’s a small little place with really good food service. We first went just about 3 weeks ago and found it by accident. We have been back about 5 times now and I have been happy each time. We have had the same waitress each time and she is as nice as could be. Always checking to see if we need anything and to make sure we have hot coffee. The food is made fresh and they give you large portions. So far I have had the BBQ Riblets special, Pattie melts a few times and their fried chicken. All have been quite good. I have had the house salad a couple of times and it is always on fresh crisp greens with plenty of dressing. I have been wanting to try there chili so I think it will be dinner there tonight. I will say the only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is they charge $.75 to use your debit card. I always forget to grab cash so I end up paying. The good thing is there prices are pretty low so it’s not a big deal. I recommend Mikey’s if you want a some good food and fast and...
