I love this area, however parking is tight and I just so happen to stumble upon the parking lot for the venue, which is around the corner from the building. The comedian was HILARIOUS, the guy taking the tickets was very pleasant and quite nice however, I was not happy with the food service. For starters, the food menu is very limited and I noticed the portions are quite small for the prices being charged. I ordered an app, a cocktail, and some water about 15 mins after I arrived, just to nibble until my friend showed up. After 10 mins, I'm noticing others around me getting their food pretty quickly. I asked the server if my order is coming anytime soon; she said it should be. 20 mins later, I still didn't have my order. In the meantime, another couple had just arrived, sat beside me, ordered drinks, and received them w/in 5 mins. I asked the server again about my order, she stated that they were busy and it should be coming out. I stated that I understood it was busy, but the couple beside me arrive 20 mins after, ordered, and received their drinks w/in 5 mins. She asked me to remind her what I requested 🙄. Ummm, no, so I canceled the entire order. 15 mins later, she comes around w/the app that was ordered and canceled. I had also ordered some food in the middle of all of this brouhaha, but by this time, I am heated, so again, I canceled the food. No kidding... 20 mins later a runner comes around w/my food order that I had already canceled! I said nothing and let him walk around... looking. I noticed that the system they have in place is very confusing and unorganized. The runners bringing out orders don't have table numbers or patron names, so they just walk to the section they are given yelling out the food type on the tray. You can barely hear what's being called out, so it's easy to miss your order. There were times the runners were in the completely wrong section. Two other young ladies in my section never got their food orders either. I believe it may have been given, accidentally, to the group in the VIP section behind me. I don't know if it was just the section in which I was sitting, our server, or what, that was the starting point of the confusion/disorganization, but I was highly disgusted at this experience. I'll stick w/shows at The Birchmere...
Read moreIf I can give this place zero stars that would describe my experience. First, I checked the reviews on here before I decided to go this evening. As you know Mon and Tuesday nights are $2. This was my partner and I first experience. Now we been to Alamo draft house in Auburn,Va. Love that place. But we decided to go here because we are traveling from bethesda and we like to try new places and experiences. So we arrived early the movie didn't start until 745pm we got there at 630 to get good seats. From the moment you walk through the door it was a nightmare. The place smells From bad hospitality from the mid age women that works the front to the office chairs in the theatre. I read a review that this place has comfortable leather chairs. Whatever! So once I past that we ordered from the menu which was the rave reviews on the quesadilla and the Philly cheesesteak rolls. Horrible!!!! The quesadilla was the worst I have ever tasted. I ordered chicken quesadilla and it was $3 extra for chicken. $12 for buttered down day old chicken and corn quesadilla. The Philly cheese steak roll was literally burned. I couldn't believe they would sell this to their customers. I was so stunned with this messiness service we received that I was to embarrassed to complain. You get what you pay for. So I didn't eat all my food and said to hell with it. I'll try the popcorn. Damn if they didn't serve me dollar bag of popcorn they popped in the microwave and poured in a bucket with enough salt to raise someone blood pressure. And they tell you no extra butter for popcorn. Lol. The best part was the movie. But I guess I should have just waited for it to come out on dvd. Lesson learned. I will just continue to go to Alamo. It's worth the extra 30 minute drive. I never seen a bathroom with a vanity sink....one sink....two stalls. And I needed a jackhammer to open the front door. I guess that was the old theatre feel. But office chairs....really???? I just left work sitting at a desk with an office chair but to sit another 3 hours in a chair ? I should have just brought my laptop. ..but...
Read moreI've been to Arlington Drafthouse twice in the past 4 years and have had DRASTICALLY different experiences. The first time was in 2013 for a comedy show. I went with my friend, we sat in the front row, drank a few beers, and had an amazing time! The show was hilarious, reasonably priced, and the acts even stayed after to meet with fans.
So, when I was taking a trip back up to Northern VA recently to visit friends, I thought that I should see what was going on at the Drafthouse as a fun Saturday evening activity. I saw that Wine Lovers: A Musical was booked for the weekend and thought it sounded interesting.
It was honestly one of the worst entertainment experiences I have ever lived through.
First of all, the ticket was $36.
That wouldn't have been too bad if it was for a legitimate play or if the play included a wine tasting (as you would assume it would based on the play's description of being a tasting and musical comedy experience). But neither of these were true. Instead, you had to pay an additional $15 to taste a bunch of $8 Costco Wines.
The play only lasted an hour long (seriously, it started at 7:10pm and was over by 8:15pm). I would be sad about this but it wasn't very good. I give props to the actors, they were trying very hard and I appreciate their talent and effort, but the play was just not good.
The worst part of it all was the service. The servers were awful. They took forever to get people's orders and visibly rolled their eyes when we didn't order the overpriced crappy tasting. They brought out checks 20 minutes into the play and when my friend ordered another glass of wine (which were only $7 vs. the $15 tasting) the waitress acted like it was the end of the world as we know it.
Overall, I was really disappointed with the Drafthouse. I had such a positive expereince in the past (giving it the two versus one star), but the play, prices, and service just really fell...
