I was really excited when Salter Brothers opened, as there is no place in Arlington I've found to get good, fresh roasted coffee. Plus I like to support local businesses, so this was a win-win for me. We are heavy coffee drinkers in my family and go through several pounds of beans a month. I've used Salter Brothers for years, and at first it was great. Put in an order, get an email a few days later that it's ready, then go pick it up. As time went on, I would not get the email notification. I would show up days later and it was ready and had been sitting there for days waiting for me to pick it up. Several times I showed up before work to either see if my order was ready or just to get a cup of coffee and they were closed when their hours said they would be open. The quality of their roasts has slipped, to the point one of the bags in my last order was supposed to be medium but it was a light, inconsistent roast that was completely unusable no matter what brew method I tried. It seems like now they are focused on roasting coffee in bulk for other local businesses, which is great, as it means they are successful. As an individual though who does not need it roasted in bulk, I feel like it's time for me to move on. Back to...

It is so inconsistent and frustrating - especially when you wait and wait and wait and the coffee is mediocre that morning. This morning was one of those 10 cars backed up mornings and I just did not have the time or desire to wait.
I had driven past Salter Bros. Coffee Roasters several times previously and reminded myself each time to stop by in the future. Today ended up being the day that I actually stopped by... and I wished I would not have waited because WOW. I tried both the nitro cold brew and their drip coffee and both were phenomenal. The cold brew was smooth until the drop and much better than Starbucks and at the same cost.
I have already encouraged many coworkers to stop by and try their coffee - it is worth the detour. I will proudly continue to support my local Salter Bros. Coffee Roasters small business, and more importantly, do so unironically because the coffee really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to go here almost every day. There were 2 awesome baristas before, but I think they both graduated from UTA & left. Now there's 2 new ones. One is cheerful, bubbly, & delightful... the other maintains an unfriendly grimace with a demeanor to match. Not a huge deal. Not everyone has to exude joy while working at their jobs, but it is a service industry position and displaying a small amount of enthusiasm while interacting with customers is conducive to receiving gratuity and increases likelihood of returning/repeat customers. Beyond that, the same barista pours the boiling hot espresso directly into the plastic cups when making the iced drinks, which is a horribly awful thing to do. When plastic reaches high temperatures it begins to melt and leaches toxic chemicals into the drink it contains. If it's an iced drink with milk/water & ice, put some ice and water/milk in first & pour over that, for goodness sake. As a small business owner, I typically make it a point to support small/independent businesses, even if they cost more. Sadly, I am going to get my coffee from Dutch Bros...
