College Park Center is an enormous and beautiful facility with only a FEW drawbacks that keep it from getting a 5-Star review.
I am handicapped and require a motorized wheelchair to get around, and the facility obviously did not have someone with sensitivity to this population involved in the planning and construction.
PARKING: 》Parking is conveniently located across the street from the Center and there are ample handicapped spots available. if you're handicapped, getting into the building is tricky because ramps are not well marked and blend into the area where the steps are.
ENTERING the Center: 》Once you get up the ramp or steps, there is a VERY narrow corridor in front of the building that becomes crowded very quickly and is difficult to get around 》The ticket booths, Will Call, a row of metal detectors, AND the lines to enter the building are ALL outside and in close proximity to each other, making the area difficult to get through the crowd during a popular event 》It isn't until you get on the other side of this bottleneck that you find a wider area they COULD HAVE USED to avoid congestion getting inside 》Now, imagine you're in a wheelchair (or using crutches) navigating all of this. Even on foot it's almost impossible to get through the crowd during a popular event like graduation ceremonies!
INSIDE: 》You enter on the highest level where food and beverage, as well as memorabilia sales, are located 》 Handicapped seating is on the highest level and only one other person in your party (in addition to the handicapped person) can sit there 》There is an elevator, but unless you're a designated VIP or special access privileges, you must use the stairs to get to your seats 》The wide screen monitor is TOO SMALL FOR THE ARENA and it's hard to see details on them, especially when you're higher up I had trouble seeing the text with the names of the graduates, and could barely read the names of the degrees that were being conferred. The Staff response is, "There is a QR code...". Sure, but if I wanted to watch my son's graduation on my PHONE, I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of actually BEING HERE IN PERSON
EXITING the building: 》Getting out of the building was no problem, but finding the ramps down to get to my car was still an issue because the ramps are not well marked
The TRAFFIC: 》The traffic getting onto and exiting the campus is HORRENDOUS during...
Read moreCame here to watch VNL volleyball in 2023. The staff members kicked everyone out to re-enter the venue when the second game of the day was about to start. This happened to EVERYONE (thousands of fans). We did not get to see our favorite teams warm up, and we missed the first part of the game because of poor organization. There must be better ways to check if people had bought tickets than to make a WHOLE VENUE of people go outside in the hot weather (above 100F) with their concession snacks and everything and get re-checked through security. Or they could have sold day passes for back to back games instead of kicking everyone out when there is a short time between games.
Communication from the leadership team and security was poor! We had to find out from other fans that we were expected to leave the building. During this time, most people were unaware and either trying to buy snacks or souvenirs before the next game, go to the bathroom, or stay in their seats to watch the next two teams warm up. This created a lot of traffic and chaos in the hallway. By the time we know that we were supposed to leave the building, the game was about to start and we were basically KICKED OUT by security (again, thousands of people in the venue did not know what was going on because there was no announcement). Poor, poor communication!!! Felt criminal for going to support my...
Read moreI LOVE this venue! I bought tickets all the way at the top section, but I could still see the stage and had such an enjoyable time!
There are plenty of stairwells for entry and exit, if you’re stuck in a line on the top section, walk around and find another stairwell. We learned this when one of the workers told us there wasn’t really a reason to stand and wait that long. And she was right, no one was at the other access points!
As of 3/9/25, their food venue Ted E’s was priced $12 for a chicken basket and $4 for a drink. The food tasted good and the employees were very friendly!
Parking was INCREDIBLE. I was prepared to have to fight for a spot so we prepaid. It was a breeze, they scanned the code and I got to pick a great spot. I was amazed. Walking to the venue from North parking was super simple too, nothing confusing about it.
This whole experience makes me want to come back for more entertainment opportunities, and that’s saying a lot since I hate traffic/crowds as most people do. UTA has made an efficient use of College Park and I’m so...
