We love this little place, and we keep going back. We like the vegetarian combo and ask for the beef tibs as an addition. They price us for the all-meat combo, which is fair. The presentation was so beautiful. We always leave satisfied. It feels like a small town restaurant where people seem to know one another or like a "fonda" en a Mexican market. Good food, relaxed atmosphere, fresh, delicious food. We'll keep returning!
Update: Many restaurants have their off days, and yesterday was certainly the day for Bethel Cafe. We ordered the same thing as we did the last time, but the presentation was nothing like the photo that I posted three weeks ago. I didn't take a picture because it wasn't picturesque. The smsll amout of food was not centered on the plate, and the injera was dry. The beef was still tasty, but it was tough and minimal. I forgot that the tea basically tastes like Constant Comment, which I don't care for because of the cloves. The waitress said that it has cinnamon and cardamon. The spiced water was served with a Lipton tea bag. We also tried both the chocolate and the orange cake, and neither one had much flavor. I appreciate that they weren't overly sweet, however.
I was up most of the night with terrible cramping and intestinal and stomach pain. Such a disappointment, and we won't...
Read moreIf you follow me, you'll know I'm a huge fan of Ethiopian food. Bethel Cafe does not disappoint! I think the thing I love the most is that they're only a little over a mile from my daughter's apartment. I like how every place I go to has a different take on the classic dishes. Bethel has both gomen (collards) and shiro (chick peas) dishes with meat in them, which I don't often see.
I got the sense they mostly do takeout. Seating is quite limited, but the interior is bright and comfortable. They close a bit early (7pm), so don't dither while deciding to go here. My daughter and I had dinner in the restaurant and I got takeout to take home to my partner. It traveled extremely well and was just as good the next day. I recommend Bethel Cafe and expect I'll...
Read moreI was hungry and saw a Subway store (which by the way is my favorite) and parked in front of the business. I suddenly noticed Ethio Cafe and I wanted to give it a try, sat in my car and called to place a Togo order, lady answered since they have no menu online I asked if she could tell me the house special she sounded confused. To ease up the order I just named one of the food and asked her to add something to it and she giggles LOL. Not knowing your menu is one thing but treating your customers this way isn't acceptable, maybe I'll give you another try if you improve your customer service but I'll pass for today and take my business...
