UPDATE: I finally had the opportunity to visit this place in person this January and wow...it truly lived up to all of the expectations I had built up after ordering their takeout / delivery a few times more than what was probably financially healthy. Their kimchi jjigae is somehow even better when served piping hot and fresh in the restaurant, and their side dishes are delicious. I came here for my first meal back in D.C. after winter break, and digging into their incredible kimchi and tofu stew after bracing the cold to walk here from Georgetown felt like a warm and delicious hug. Sure, is $16 a little expensive for soondubu jjigae? Yes. But is it absolutely worth every cent, especially if you aren't able to trek all the way to Annandale to access the rest of this area's authentic Korean food? Also yes.

This place is absolutely incredible! I was really craving some Korean food but didn't have time to metro all the way down to Annandale, so I decided to give this place a shot. It absolutely did not disappoint; all of the food was delicious, plentiful, and affordably priced. I placed my order on UberEats and, when it arrived at my doorstep a mere 20 minutes later, everything was still hot and remarkably well packaged. I'm often worried about ordering soups on UberEats, but BibiMix puts their soup containers into tiny plastic bags to ensure they avoid any spillage (a very small detail, but still one that shows how conscious of customer needs their staff is). I ordered soondubu kimchi jjigae and a roll of avocado kimbap. The soondubu came with white rice, as well as sides of pickled white onions, avocado, and cucumber kimchi, which were the perfect balance against the stew's heaviness and rich flavor. The portions are also fantastic -- I personally split the soondubu across two separate meals, and ate the avocado kimbap for a light lunch a couple of days later.
All around, I can't recommend this place enough. I can't wait to revisit this spot in person once COVID-19...
Read moreThis used to be THE 5 star place since coming across Bibimix in 2019. Before today, Bibimix had the most wonderful popcorn chicken at wonderful prices, large and small, chicken/pork cutlet, plus my favorite menu item, the Bulgogi Tteok-bokki. It was my go to place, either by picking up or via Doordash, it held wonderfully either which way! I eventually moved closer to the Courthouse area, which ended up making Bibimix my go-to treat every other week, sometimes every week! It got to a point of tradition to get Bibimix with some friends and enjoy the most delicious food you just can't find anywhere else.
So what happened? in mid January 2022, For whatever reason, executive decisions were made to change establishment internally, from the way dishes were prepared (how chicken went from crispy, large pieces to flattened, soggy messes), to the portion of the dishes (12 piece to 6 in small, 18 to 12 in large), to the price of said dish ($17 for 12 smaller, soggier, boneless pieces of chicken?), down to straight up removing items from the menu (why remove the Bulgogi Tteok-bokki, the Traditional Korean sauce, along with other great tasting items you couldn't find anywhere else?).
With all due respect to the establishment for being so wonderful up until now, I find this action to be the worst possible mistake. It's gotten to a point where I, along with my circle, can no longer recommend coming here until these changes are reversed and/or fixed.
I can only hope that the changes being applied are temporary. I would feel terrible for anyone trying Bibimix for the first time today, as it was so, so much better just...
Read moreI just moved to the USA after living in Korea for 6 years and she was born and raised in Korea, as well. So after 3 weeks of living in the USA we were craving some proper Korean food. This place is perfect for that. We have been twice so far and both times were good. The food is quite authentic...a little bit fusion, but the tteokboki was spot on and the japchae was also very authentic. The flavors of everything else were still really good and overall is a nice meal. After over half a decade of eating in a rural city in Korea, we were worried about trying Korea food here, but this is on par with what we expected. We also tried the jalapeno cheese poppers, which aren't Korean but they were also better than expected. The cheese was melted well, although the temperature was a bit hot. Still, we ate them all no problems with the dipping sauce they give. Speaking of sauces, there are a couple to choose from...both times we got the gochujjang, which was just like the type we ate in Daejeon. We were tempted to bring some home while we cooked our own food. Overall, this place is right in line with what we want as our Korean fix. The price is good and the drink selections are also nice. They have an assortment of Japanese, Korean, and other beverages...granted since we have a lot of the same drinks at home, I just got the coke. Will probably come here bi-weekly to...
