It's definitely 5 stars, and then some more! I totally got my Ăclair on at this wonderful cafĂ© while staying in the Rosslyn area. I visited it twice in 2 days, and had it bookmarked as a "must-go-to-this-place-immediately" when I arrive at the hotel. Well, I did just that.
First of all, you're greeted as soon as you walk up to the register. The young man at the counter was friendly and very informative. I had pretty much decided that I wanted to try either the Queen Bee or Café Noisette and he confirmed that they are both popular choices, and unique to this café. I also found myself wanting to get a whole bunch of different desserts but I could only get a couple because I wanted to try other places in town as well. I automatically drifted towards the éclairs. They had so many different flavor options. I decided to get the pistachio one. I'd had it once before in a DC shop about 4 years ago and loved it. This one looked even better than the one I had. The raspberry linzer cookies also looked fantastic, so I got both to take back to my hotel for later. I also got that incredible Queen Bee iced latte that has flavors of honey and cardamom. It was the perfect drink to sip on while walking back to the hotel. Absolutely wonderful!
The éclair was fantastic! Way better than the one I had 4 years ago because the pastry cream on the inside was as it should be. It was creamy with that natural flavor of pistachio. Yes, the cream and the glaze had the pistachio flavors. It definitely had not been frozen and thawed out like others I've had. It was fresh, creamy, and light. The way you would get it in Europe. I was in heaven. I ended up eating the raspberry linzer cookie the next day and it was equally as fresh. The raspberry filling was delightful. So much so, that I went back a second time and got more delicious treats. This time, I got some bite sized ones. The macarons and passion fruit chocolates. Both were very good, but the éclair was the absolute best of all of them.
Do not sleep on this place. It's totally legit. This is another place I'd frequent often if I lived in the area. I love that the atmosphere is so clean and inviting. I saw people studying or working there. They have many areas where you can sit and be comfortable. The cases are full of all kinds of goodies, and not just éclairs. They also have Lebanese breakfast and lunch items as well. I wish I could have tried it all, but most of the Lebanese breakfast items were already sold out in the afternoon when I visited. I will be back one day to try the Za'atar Croissant and Cherry Blossom Knafeh. Go early if you want to get the most popular items. Oh, and I must also say the service is wonderful. The staff genuinely looks happy to be there. I'm not sure you see that very often in the DC area. I'm definitely going to stay in Rosslyn the next time I...
Read moreDelightful bakery serving up some of the most gorgeous and tasty French pastries in the DMV! Eclairons had been on my bucket list for quite a while, so I was super excited when one of my friends suggested we meet their for brunch / coffee. I tried out their egg white spinach croissant, which was delightful. The croissant was phenomenal; it was super flaky and buttery, and I loved the slight nuttiness from the sesame seeds sprinkled on top. It was a slightly different shape than what I was used to, and was a bit longer and thinner than the classic French pastry, so it made it a slightly worse vehicle for all of the sandwich toppings piled on. However, that certainly didn't stop Eclairons from loading it up -- the croissant had a generous helping of egg white and spinach, and was also topped with a layer of gooey melted gruyere, which just brought the whole sandwich together.
The space itself was also gorgeous; I loved the white marble tables, and there was a ton of natural lighting filling the space. I had visited in December, so they had decorated the shop with a gorgeous Christmas tree adorned with white and gold ornaments, and plenty of other festive decor.
All in all, Eclairons is a delightful little cafe, with fantastic food, friendly staff, and great vibes. It's a little pricey (an eclair is $8, my croissant sandwich was around $15), but it's absolutely worth it. I can't wait to make another trip to try out their sweet treats, including their...
Read moreWhen you first walk into Eclairons, you are welcomed by warm staff, bright decor, and an expansive array of delicious looking pastries (spoiler alert: they are just as delicious as they look!). It is overwhelming really, just how many choices you can make from the array Eclairons has to offer. Not an issue in the slightest because the staff offered recommendations and put together the perfect brunch combination I could've asked for. From the cherry blossom latte to the short rib sandwich to the cookies, to the croissants, to the eclairs (ferrer rocher, biscoff, pistachio: all three must trys), you really cannot go wrong.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed our visit so much, we made it a point to come back before heading on the road to stock up on goodies. For the second time in a row, we were welcomed with warmth and offered an assortment of croissants, cookies, and eclairs to indulge in later.
