I visited this place for the second time with the to go service, the first time was one day when I got home I was missing a pupusa and it was too late to complain, the second time I ordered tamales and something else and the cashier gave me the order and told me that the entire order was there, and she mentioned the entire order one by one and that the tamales were already in the bag, she herself prepared the last thing of my food order and verified that the order was complete, of course I did not verify my order right there so I went to the car to check that my order was complete and my surprise was that the tamales were missing, I decided to get out of the car to let her know when I entered I had to wait for her to help me since there was another person in front of me so I waited a long time when the cashier attended to me she asked me "what do I need" I told her that the tamales were missing and she responded "oh yes it is because the tamales were cooking" and I thought that it was a mistake that maybe they had forgotten and the truth was it was not, how dishonest on their part that it happens for the second time this situation? It makes me think this restaurant likes to steal from customers, because to me, this is theft. I don't recommend this place. It's happened twice, and incomplete orders are not acceptable. You're paying for the order, and getting home and realizing it's not complete leaves a lot to think about, especially when the restaurant is very far from home. There's nothing you can do but feel robbed. All of this happened at the Arlington location. I don’t...
Read moreJust like most Salvadoran food places, their best items are pupusas and tamales... However, their pan dulce was pretty good. The only inconvenient when ordering is that if you customize your order a bit too much, they may not do it and just give you the standard dish. Another thing, it's better to call within 30 to 15 minutes to place and order than to sit and wait 30 to 45 for the food to arrive, I know, cooking from scratch takes time, and by being the easiest Salvadoran restaurant to find, they are gonna always be in a rush, so expect your order to take some time. Now back to the pupusas, if you don't know how to differentiate one made with masa de maiz versus one made with masa de arroz... If you order one with rice flour, that costs a bit extra, so be careful cuz they might try to sell you one of corn flour and charge you as if it was made out of rice flour... That could be a mistake on their behalf and not done with malice, but still, you're paying for something and getting something different. When it comes to drinks, since they sell pan dulce, a coffee or hot chocolate are your go to options, but they got other drinks too, I normally suggest either Horchata, Tamarindo, or Flor de Jamaica...
Read moreFood was amazing! If I could rate food (Pupusas is all we had) I would rate a 10 stars. But do yourself a favor. Call about an hour in advance with your order. Dine in or pickup. CALL IN ADVANCE! ESPECIALLY FOR PUPUSAS! This places specialty. Only reason for a 3 star is given is because of the wait time when dining in. Also no host, so, walk in, and pick your seat. Not bad on the no host, it was just awkward standing there not knowing if you had to wait for someone to acknowledge you or not. Walked in at 1927, stood in entrance area in view of waitresses for about 3 to 5 min. Figured out, no hostess. Sat down. No acknowledgement for like 10 to 15min. We already knew what we wanted so didn't even have to look at menus. Food did not come out till 2025. It's a very simple dish (pupusas). My grandma can feed about 20 people in about 30min. Especially when everything is ready to go and just throw on griddle. Either, the set up/prep/system is not what it should be or not enough staff. Not sure. Final word: Amazing food, way too long of a wait time...
