well I'm sorry to say this place needs help. They've been open since December. First thing happened I walked in, and Hey guy approached me. He had no name tag no uniform nothing to say that he worked for that company Oh, I thought some dude was just coming up and approaching me. I had to literally ask him do you work here. it was kind of hard to find in the for never having been there before Oh, I used to go to Bailey's, it's just a completely different looking space now so I think that's great. But finding punch bowl social wasn't perfectly easy. They have no pool tables, with all that space you would think they wouldn't have a couple pool tables. Then I went to the bathroom. Apparently the lock on the bathroom is broken. The solution for this brand new establishment, what's to take a label maker and put a label stating that the lock was broken. I saw another label somewhere else that also stated something was not working. Maybe they should get rid of the label maker and find some competent workers who are willing to fix the things that are broken and not just make a label. and finally since it is a brand-new establishment, you would think the bathroom toilet seat would also be relatively well secured to the commode. I'm so glad they have a bathroom, but I almost did a somersault off the toilet cuz the seat was loose, I couldn't lock the door because there's a label maker label telling me that it's broken, I don't know if I'll ever go back. It's a very pretty space though I must admit they've really done a good job with the decorations. The bar looks clean, but the infrastructure is beat.

Average place. Nothing special here. I recently moved here in Ballston and first heard about Punch Bowl from people living on my floor. Also I always walk by here and note it's fun name. I decided to swing by a few weekends ago with some friends. It was around 11:30pm when we walked in and there was a handful of people in there. With multiple floors, it connects to Ballston Quarter mall which is really nice. They have a bunch of games like ping pong, bowling, cards, Jenga, and other fun stuff. Also an outdoor area for people to mingle and socialize. We didn't stay too long as we just wanted to check the place out. Most people hang out on the upper levels. I see it as a casual spot to come and hang it with friends. Great for happy hour, a weekend activity during the day time, or a great pregame spot. Not so much for actually going out. That's what Clarendon and dc are for :) I also came here for brunch with another group of friends a few weeks later. I ordered the chicken tacos (pictured). These were ok. The chicken was dry and they gave 3 small tacos. I was expecting larger ones. I like the ambiance but other than that, the food is meh. Seems like they pride themselves in their social environment and not so much their meals. Service was also pretty standard. So 3 stars from me. As a foodie, food is the one thing that trumps over everything else. So if it's not amazing or anything, I'll rate the spot accordingly.

If I could give a negative 5 stars that’s what I would give.PBS needs to change their name from “Punch Bowl Social” to POOR BAD SERVICE!!!!

Usually don’t do long reviews but here we go, we decided to come here around 10:30pm last night. The atmosphere was cool but then as we walked towards the back to pay for bowling, the guy in the area to purchase a lane was RUDE. There were some ladies in front of us that paid for a lane, once he finished with them, he walks out with his cash box like we’re not standing there and then my friend said that we wanted to bowl, so he turned back around and rushed our transaction, instead of handing us our stuff to sign just throwing it on the counter and has stuff falling all over the place and just not explaining anything. Should have just let at that moment but no we just wanted to continue our night of hanging out so we make the best of it.

We get to the lane, ready to bowl, there was three of us that paid but he only set it for two people l so my friend tracked him down to fix that.

Now that should have been the first two red flags for me, but wait it gets better.

So, after about 30 mins we were on the lane and decided hey let’s try to find a menu to grab some drinks. My boyfriend said he wanted a beer. I get to the bar the first time and ask for a particular beer the bartender that was working close to the skeeball games said they didn’t have it, but her customer service was TRASH because she didn’t even offer all the options, I was looking at the tap but wasn’t sure if they could have possibly have any other options that were in a can or bottle . I left the bar and went back to my lane for my turn to bowl, second time at the bar to try to now order a bud light, now she sees me but doesn’t say a thing like “be with you in a minute” just nothing doesn’t acknowledge the fact that I’m standing there and it’s not even crowded for you to not notice me standing there waiting. So, I go back to the lane to go my turn again and told my boyfriend “you go this time because I’m not going back.”

Now here is where we gets really good, I get back to the bar to pay for a bud light which came to $7.00, the other bartender, this time the guy that was working asks “do you want to open a tab?” I said “no” and I’m thinking to myself why would I open a tab and I have been down here two times at this point for this one beer, ABSOLUTELY NOT.”

He walks over to the register and says “oh you already have a tab open and you ordered four shots of Tito’s, with this same name and this same card ” so at this point I’m confused because, how did you come up with that and I literally just handed you my card.

I told him the only thing I have purchased since walking through the door was the game for bowling which was $50.00 for two people and paid for, so he said okay comes back and hands me the receipt for the one beer, i make sure there isn’t anything else that is not mine, I sign it and go back to the lane and finish out the game.

But wait, there’s more. On the way home, I get a notification about a purchase for $52.80!!! Whose stuff are you charging to my card? I had to make sure I was not losing it because I paid for my bowling with a different card.

I really wanted to enjoy Punch Bowl but the people that were working last night from the time that I was there between 10:30pm to 12:00am or so really ruined that, with that trashy customer service and I’m not one to really drag businesses and establishments but they were in rare form...

Went on a Tuesday Trivia Night in a large group (14 people). I want to preface with I understand how difficult it is waiting on large groups, that said preperation is key. Before we even sat down, the table (which had reserved signs) did not accomodate our party even though we had made reservations in place. They have to bring in another table and chairs. We also were in the middle of the hallway between the kitchen and the other side which inconvienced the servers but also us as we constantly were getting shoved by the large platters etc. Sitting down there was not enough silverware, water, or plates for us all. Despite the “reserved” signs, the table was covered in a sticky residue which I had to ask them to clean. After waiting a while to be asked for our orders, my friend had a medical emergency and desperately needed water. After getting our orders placed, a runner brought out an entree of mozzerella sticks (we ordered 3) and her main. However, this was not the main she ordered, she changed her mind during the time she was asked what she wanted and this item was the first item but she did not want that and she changed her mind quickly when ordering. The runner brought out two more entrees and which i asked where the entrees and drinks were, after this they switched out servers. Then we had to replace our drink orders. Our food started to trickle out now and we were getting appetizers. My friends steak was ordered medium rare, but it came out well done and she said it was the worst steak she has ever had and they did replace it for her which was nice. We are now two hours out after ordering. My other friend did not have his food at all no appietizee or entree and we had alerted the staff that everyone else had been served. My other friend recieved the completely wrong order. No fries, no avocado, no ranch. All of which she ordered. The food was good. Except the one steak. Maybe it was the time we chose to go, but when you make a reservation you expect them to be prepared for your party before you arrive. I appreciate d the senior staff for stepping up and replacing the original server. They comped our drinks and the salmon which was taking forwcer to be brought out which was appreciated but made little difference especially with how long we were there. I do not reccomend for large group, or going somewhere if you have dietary restrictions and need your food cooked the way you...

Absolute worst experience I’ve had visiting a restaurant. I made reservations there to celebrate my sister birthday. My card was taken to open a Tab first and I was confused after all we were not at the bar but the waitress ‘Cookie’ said this was normal. We finished our meals and my card was then taken again. The bill was $121 and I left a $20 tip. I was ultimately charged twice. Punch Bowl made $141 off me and additional $119 was charged and left pending on my card. I discovered this 8:30 the next evening . I called the restaurant and was given the run around they took my information and I was told I’d would get a call back from a manager and never did I had to call. I was told repeatedly told this was a pre authorization however the restaurant had already been paid. I called the next morning and again was told it was nothing they could do because it is a hold but I could come into speak with a manager at 4pm. Not a soul took the matter seriously I had literally been robbed and nobody could see the issue here. Upon sitting down to discuss what happened They first denied any wrong doing and suggested I call my bank. A few moments later Shalese ‘Shay’ (manager) explained this happens often and has even happened to her at the very same location where servers “over charged” guest. She was apologetic and as helpful as she could be. The entire experience ruined my trip here , your restaurant essentially stole an extra $119 from me and I’m stuck left waiting hoping the charge clears. The general manger never came out to speak with us. I was offered a gift card over a Full refund or even the $20 tip. We are not from the area why would I return here where such negligence is tolerated. When we first arrived to the restaurant my information regarding the incident had been thrown in the trash the host reached in a trashcan it and told us we could wait at a table for Shay. Why would I want a gift card to return to place that Stole from me and Is fully aware of how Frequent this ‘Mistake’ is made. I am completely out of MY money until next week and I do not live in the DC area. Far as I’m concerned it was a ripoff. I was told repeatedly it’s just an authorization it’s normal to then be told it was an accident that your...
