This is my favorite Bar-B-Q restaurant because of their Three Bean Salad and Green Chile Stew. I haven't tried any of the other items that are available on the menu.
Once you enter the restaurant there is a small shop to the left and the main counter is towards the back of the restaurant. An open cooler with bottled drinks sits in front of the counter, they also serve fountain drinks here. You can find the cold sides that they serve in the coolers to your left, once you're at the counter.
Most of the time the food will be given to you at the counter after you've ordered but if there is a delay on anything they'll offer to bring it to your table once it's ready.
If you haven't ever tried Three Bean Salad then it's probably going to be a weird experience, it was strange to me. Three bean salad is a blend of kidney beans, green beans, and garbanzo beans tossed in a sweet dressing. I didn't care for the first bite of the salad but the flavor grew on me.
The Green Chile Stew tasted as you would expect from a stew, but it was spicy. It's the very best restaurant stew that I've had and I can say that I highly recommend it. The self-service area has crackers available that you can eat with the stew if you enjoy eating them together, they can help cut the heat, too.
I would give this a five-star rating, except for my husbands' experience, which hasn't been as good as mine. My husband eats more traditional Bar-B-Q style food than I do. Occasionally, the food he has ordered here has been amazing, but at times it has been less enjoyable. I think that when he hasn't enjoyed it as much, it has been due to the meat being dry.
After looking over my initial review, I found it difficult to read, I've made some changes to improve its readability. This review includes all of the same information as the previous one but written in a way that I...
Read moreI really cannot say enough good things about this place. Always had seen it, but it wasn't until about 2 years ago that I finally tried it, and I can't believe I went so long without some Rudy's bbq!! Service here is always above and beyond ... from being greeted upon entrance and being asked if you're ok while seated and eating -- the customer service is top notch. Food is A M A Z I N G. You definitely get your money's worth here! People talk about the various bbq places in Texas and the well known ones in the Metroplex, but I have never heard people talk about Rudy's! Why?!? Put their food in your mouth and Rudy's name will be dripping out the corner of every Metroplex person's mouth!! I was at H* E* a few months back (wasn't my first time there) and I wanted to slap myself while there because of not just going to Rudy's! Pictures included are of Rudy's loaded baked potatoe with brisket and their sausage sandwich. They load it up here, and they load it up good! H* E* was a joke in comparison to Rudy's, and I know better now! Atmosphere here is always laid back and depending on the time of day, it can definitely get busy, but that doesn't take away from the good service and food you get here! They have breakfast tacos and they are mouth watering, delicious! Their tacos are small, but 2 of those beauties is usually enough because they are loaded up! Moist brisket, pork loin, and turkey here are pretty amazing, but honestly, what ever you get, you will not be...
Read moreI placed an order online for my food to be picked up at 630 pm today. When arrived I went to the counter in the front of the store to pick up my order because that is where I normally go. There was one lady behind the counter at first, then two ladies - NO ONE acknowledge me standing- I stood there for two minutes. I assumed it was because I was on the phone. So I ended my conversation put away my phone stood there for another two minutes. I finally asked if this was the place, where I am supposed to pick up online orders. Still no greeting. She asked me if I placed an order - then my name. The other lady goes to the back to get my food as she returning to put the food into the plastic bag the bag dropped to the floor. I can see this. It is right in front of my face - she never says a word. She opens the bags moves a few things around and hands me the back. I have NEVER, seen such poor service. To not even acknowledge that food has been dropped on the floor is a sign of disrespect/disregard I could never imagine in the hospitality/food industry. No, I did not ask to speak with a manager while I was there - the entire situation was just off-putting. And I was not in the mood to discuss how expected to be treated vs reality. AND NO WE DID NOT EAT THE FOOD. I picked up a pizza instead. Mind you we have been eating here for at least six years....
