We used to go to the KK quite a bit when I was young. You can definitely tell the ownership change.
After we got a cup of Coffee at Starbucks in Hy Vee, we went for a drive, and decided to grab breakfast at the KK.
We waited 15 minutes for a table, which is to be expected on a weekend.
Once we sat down, we ordered. The food took over 45 minutes, and about 30 minutes in our server came up to us and said 'he just learned that next time we better not bring in outside drinks', and he was supposed to let us know.
I felt bad for the kid, and wish whomever told him to say that had the guts to come say it themselves.
The food was not what it used to be, and the place is filthy. Skip this place unless you are not in a hurry, and don't mind smelling like a griddle when you leave.
One thing I would imagine business owners at the lakes would know and embrace, is that you shouldn't disrupt over lapping business/customers. There are a lot of choices in Okoboji. Take what you can get, because there are a ton of people fighting for the same dollar all summer long.
This place likely won't get another...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place after reading some reviews. Even tho the parking lot was what appeared to be full, they were still able to seat us. Yes they were busy.🙄 Service was great, and the massive caramel and cinnamon rolls caught our attention. Prices seemed a bit high compared to the regular "greasy spoons" I have been to. Like an extra $1 to $2 more per breakfast. Once our food came we noticed that they hadn't prepared our bacon like every one of us requested(crunchy). All of them were lightly fried and soggy🤔. The eggs, hash browns and toast also filled a hole but weren't amazing. Once it came time to pay we were informed that they charge a $1 service fee on all cards. Kind of irritating since I had just dropped $35 on a breakfast for my family that we weren't happy with. Since there was a big line behind me trying to pay I didn't look over my bill close enough but when I arrived home I then realized that they charged us for 2 Orange juices that were supposed to be included in the breakfast meal we had ordered. Personally I will look for a different option when I return...
Read moreTook my daughter in for before school breakfast. Was first disappointed in the lack of options. They have ham, sausage and bacon only. Ok fine. I ordered a 12 dollar specialty hashbrown. It was very pathetic. The black olives tasted like aluminum can, the meat was so ground up I could barely tell it had any at all, I basically paid for hashbrowns with cheese for $12. I also ordered a half biscuits and gravy. It was worse than the hashbrowns. Cold, frozen then thawed old biscuit that was so hard I could barely cut it, and what tastes like canned gravy. The portion most certainly didn't match the price. My daughter loved her cinnamon roll however. Just sad that we spent $32 on breakfast that was way below what was expected. For what they charge, they should...
