I was excited to try this place because I'm a huge Mediterranean food fan. I used to live down in the San Gabriel valley in LA and there was a huge Middle Eastern population who provided the area with several fantastic Mediterranean restaurants to choose from. So, I finally tried Jaffa Cafe yesterday, and I have to say that I was a bit underwhelmed. My wife and I ordered the chicken shawarma plates, which were actually pretty expensive at $15.99, and they came with rice, salad, naan bread, and hummus. Portions weren't bad, but the food was very basic. It wasn't anything special, and to be honest, was a little bland. I expected the chicken to pop a little more, perhaps for it to be a little more spicy/seasoned, but it was just really bland.
It actually made me miss the really tasty Mediterranean I used to get down in LA more than anything. That's not to say that the food was bad, it was just boring. However, I loved their little sauce bar where you could serve yourself tzatziki and a variety of other sauces as well. They also have a selection of pickles in the sauce bar. Read moreWe go to Jaffa Cafe quite a bit . They have a great outdoor patio with a bunch of roosters walking around. It's a very nice place to sit. And eat. The food is absolutely fabulous! The Dorma or stuffed grape leaves Is extremely good. The Gyros are fabulous. You can't beat the red lentil soup that they have! If you get a combo plate you can get a little bit of a number of things. They also have lovely Turkish coffee and homemade baklava. I haven't had anything at Jaffa that I didn't like. I happen to be a big fan of Middle Eastern food. The hummus that these guys make is perfect. There is also a bar with hot sauce and Tzatziki that you can fill yourself. Being able to go get your own Tzatziki from a bar is incredible! I happen to be one of these people that can go through a lot of Tzatziki...
Read moreI LOVE this place. I probably get something from here once a week. Their tabouleh has me hooked! I love the flavor and freshness. Just about everything I have had from their menu is amazing. I love their combo options because you get to pick three different things and it comes with pita for less that $15. Their shwarma's are all very good and cooked to perfection. I also love their gyro fattoush salad; it has a great flavor and it is not oily like most gyro meat. Their lentil soup has a great flavor and is great for cold days, They even have topped off the rest of my soup bowl when I asked for a Togo cup. I always feel so good after I eat because of how healthy and fresh the ingredients are. . The staff is very friendly and definitely treat their frequent...
