The Arroyo Grande Swinging Bridge is a unique piece of local history and a fun stop if you’re exploring the downtown area. Originally built around 1875 by Newton Short to connect his properties across the Arroyo Grande Creek, this narrow wooden bridge really does swing as you walk across—it’s both exciting and a little nerve-wracking!
After more than a century of storms and repairs, the bridge was rebuilt in 1995 and continues to stand as a symbol of the city’s history and pride. You get great views of the creek and ravine below, and it’s only a short walk from nearby shops and cafés.
