We just had the most horrible service and meal at this place. The food was below mediocre but the service. Yikes. Skip this place if you are going out with friends and expect to have a good experience. When we first arrived, the bartender was covering everything because a waiter had not come to work and was an hour late. You guessed it, we were saddled with this incompetent after he finally decided to come to work. We waited patiently until he finally arrived and cleaned a table for us and we were seated. Yes, he was a gem right from the start. He could not have cared less - no hustle, no apology and no change in his behavior or attentiveness even after we made it known that he was falling woefully short. He pretty much violated every one of the most basic of server rules. He never once checked in with us for drinks (yep - we had to ask the bartender who was running circles around him) or to ask if everything was good; he brought appetizers and salads out WITH the meal - this after we had been waiting for nearly an hour for food; we had to wave him down to ask for silverware, then for the rest of our order (basket of onion rings) and then the sides that we had ordered. He left dirty dishes sitting in front of us. We have company visiting from out of town and could not have more ashamed of the place we brought them. Would have been one thing if the food was good but it was not. I have rarely walked out without tipping, but, this guy didn’t earn a red...
Read moreThe fish and chips are laughable. I thought they were bringing out a kid's fish and chips to the wrong table. This was supposed to be cod fish and chips for around $20. This was two small pieces of fish about 1/4" thick along with skinny fries. There were about 10-12 fries. The fries were good though. The fish was not. The coleslaw was not coleslaw, it was chopped up lettuce...no dressing...not good. Skip the fish-n-chips. The restaurant should take it off the menu...it is that bad.
The cheese curds are loaded with garlic, and it does not state that on the menu. I mean loaded with garlic. I am from Wisconsin, been eatin' curds for years, never had them with garlic. Looked good, but I can't eat garlic, so those went back. That was unexpected.
They were out of most of the beers we ordered and had to keep coming back and asking us for another selection. This is beer country; it shouldn't be hard to keep kegs of beer stocked.
The beer cheese with the pretzel was good. The pretzel was fried I think, it came out steaming hot and too hot to handle. But it was good. The beer cheese dip was exceptional.
The Aussie pies they sell from a place in Fort Collins are good. We had chicken curry, and it was decent, a lot of crust.
The service was good. The atmosphere was not bad, a little loud, but that is to be expected in a tavern. The other food seemed to be better, to be fair. Maybe stick to...
Read moreEDIT: I'm changing my review to a 1/5 because the owner's response to my comment is not how someone should respond to a review. I must have hit a nerve especially seeing that they haven't responded to other people's recent comments. Below is my original review so y'all can see if their response was warranted. Also, to the owner: It's incredibly disrespectful to the employee who passed and your current employees to say that no one in this generation wants to work anymore. I hope you have the day you deserve. Overpriced and mediocre quality. The pretzels were really tiny and not at all worth the $10 they cost. You get two pretzels that are the size of a 10 year-olds fist each. The burgers are way overpriced costing roughly $20 each and are nothing to write home about. They tasted like something you could get from Chilis for half the price. Our server was amazing but shame on the restaurant for being so understaffed! She was the only server working and she had to cover inside, outside, and the bar all on her own (we went on the weekend so there was a bit of a crowd). Meanwhile the restaurant has a sign out front looking for experienced servers. If you're so understaffed you don't get to be picky in who you hire --be willing to train people who don't have experience and you won't be in...
