Pssst, wanna know a secret? I don’t want to tell you. Come closer and let me whisper it to you. Found THE BEST Mexican restaurant in Central Jersey. The ambiance, the service, the food are out of this world!

Let us discuss the food, first. We had the Tacos de birria and Al Pastor tacos. They make everything fresh so it will take a small while. While you wait, they give you homemade chips and salsa verde and another sauce that is possibly chilpotle lime crema. They are not the average store bought condiments but exponentially better. Finally, the food came and we must say, these dishes were generous and exceptional! Both Hubby and I concur, the star of the show was the Tacos de Birria. The braised beef was stewed to perfection. You can do the famous dip and drink it as soup. The Al Pastor tacos were very tasty as well but the birria was so savory. Lots of napkins were utilized.

The service was also stupendous. The entire staff gives you a warm welcome and always make sure everything is right.

Exceptional service, food, and at great prices…sign me up! Needless to say, we intend to be back and next time, we will be...

Amazing BYOB Mexican spot in Asbury Park just 10 minutes from the Boardwalk. It a very cute place with indoor and outdoor patio seating with additional tables on the sidewalk. Went here with extended family for dinner on a Saturday summer night and were easily seated in the outdoor patio bench tables. The service was really friendly and helpfulz and food came out super quickly. The food was excellent especially the tacos birria that I ordered. But all the other dishes from tostadas to burritos to enchiladas were outstanding. Even the chips and salsa were great. This place is BYOB, and they are cool with bringing out ice bucket to keep your beverages cool and provide you with openers and even glasses if needed. Prices are quite reasonable and the portions were huge, we ended up taking four boxes of food home. Definitely one of my new favorite spots in Asbury Park and some of the best Mexican food on the...

Went here because a colleague of mine recommended their place and El Rey’s food is just as amazing as their hospitality.

Called in ahead for a pick up and they had it ready within the time they had specified.

Loving the generosity and thoughtfulness of the chef and person working the cashier because I had mentioned that I have never tried Birria before and they asked if I wanted a sample in a cup. I gladly said yes and they ended up making me a whole taco with all the sides and some broth with it to dip the taco in! They didnt know that it was my birthday also on that day I went in so I really appreciated their gesture :)

Here’s how I spent a Fall Day in Monmouth County, New Jersey!🍂🌊🌮 We drove up the Sandy Hook peninsula a few miles to the Sandy Hook Light. This is the oldest operating lighthouse in America and free tours are offered throughout the day on a first-come, first-serve basis.⛵️ The lighthouse is open Friday through Monday from 1 PM to 3:30 PM. Sandy Hook holds a lot of history regarding the U.S. Army and visitors can still see some large mortars and more military things here. Visitors can also take in the sight of the historic yellow-brick buildings at Fort Hancock which were built in the late 1800s to early 1900s.🪖 Sandy Hook also has miles of multi-use paths that can be enjoyed on foot or bike! There are also nice views of the NYC skyline from the oceanside beaches, such as this view from North Beach.🌊 After spending an hour or two exploring Sandy Hook we made our way to Hartshorne Woods Park in the Highlands. This is the closest thing we will get to hiking in Monmouth County and visitors can enjoy a variety of wooded trails and paths, some along the water.🌳 We headed down to Asbury Park for a delicious dinner at El Rey Rosticeria y Restaurante. Asbury is my favorite town in Monmouth County town to get dinner and walk around year-round! The food at this restaurant was amazing and I definitely recommend El Rey if you are looking for a casual spot to get Mexican food.🌮🤤 Happy exploring and don’t forget to follow me for more things to do in and around New Jersey and the Northeast!😆 #njblogger #newjersey #monmouthcounty #monmouthcountynj #sandyhooknj #njbeaches #njdaytrip #dailyvlog #njthingstodo #jerseyshorelocal

Great Restaurants in New Jersey (Part 3)😋🍕🍝🌯🌮 Don’t forget to check out parts 1 and 2 on my page as well! 1. Song’ E Napule (Rutherford) @songenapulenyc 📍106 Park Ave, Rutherford, NJ 07070 Another great restaurant for authentic Neapolitan pizza! Song’ E Napule has a wide selection of freshly-made pies, appetizers, pasta dishes, and more! This is great for a date night or group dinner! 2. Bone Yard (Sparta) @boneyardsparta 📍2 White Deer Plaza, Sparta Township, NJ 07871 I recently discovered Bone Yard and absolutely love the food and ambiance. Everything I’ve eaten here has been full of flavor! If you are in Northwest Jersey and looking for a New Mexican restaurant, I’d check out Bone Yard by Lake Mohawk. 3. El Rey Rosticeria y Restaurante (Asbury Park) @elreyrestaurant706 📍708 Emory St, Asbury Park, NJ 07712 This casual Mexican spot serves up delicious, savory dishes including these birria tacos and burrito! The portions are sizable and everything I tried was full of flavor! 4. The Butcher’s Block (Long Branch) @theblocknj 📍235 West Ave, Long Branch, NJ 07740 The Butcher’s Block is a beautiful steakhouse that is 100% worth the hype. I recently dined here for an occasion and it did NOT disappoint. The food is cooked to perfection and rich in flavor. Everything is shareable and a la carte style. The Butcher’s Block is a great restaurant in Monmouth County for group dinners and special occasions! Happy dining! Comment your favorite NJ restaurants/eateries as I’m always looking to try some new spots! Don’t forget to follow me for more eatery recs and things to do in and around NJ and the Northeast.😆 #njblogger #newjersey #northjersey #centraljersey #southjersey #njrestaurants #njeats #njfoodie
