A Year and a Day Mystical Shoppe — Local services in Asbury Park

Randomly traveling thru the truly magical and strange, great state of NJ, I found a flyer for this shop n headed to Asbury Park. I am so glad that I did. The owners are truly good high vibes folks. The steady stream of clientele all seemed to have repoir with both Maria and Anthony and often each other. A friendly meeting place. None of the pretense or exclusive feeling you find in some spiritual centers or boutique shops offering services of this nature. I was able to have dialogue with both the proprietors and fellow customers. Many services offered, I chose a tarot reading with Anthony. Succinct, direct and compassionate. Reasonably priced. Most helpful. I was encouraged to ask questions and felt a good flow of back and forth, no trace of ego, rather....I felt like he was trying to be of service. He was able to convey to Maria what I was looking for in terms of complimentary stones and they welcomed this weary traveler with a loving vibe. The shop itself has a full compliment of offerings from different schools. And a number of art objects and select items for all manner of healing. The best part of my visit was walking out feeling better than I did walking in. This place is special, welcoming and all of the items I procured, felt like quality purchases at reasonable prices, and I was able to ask back story.....many have been procured thru personal connections over the combined years of their service as healers as Rev. And Rev Dr respectively. I was impressed with how many people walked in n out n from all backgrounds....young/mature, parents with adult children.....I have traveled the country n some of this globe. Right in Asbury Park there is a meeting place of high value run by a loving couple, I wanna say this shop rivals any I have been to. It's the humble/accessable personal nature of the proprietors that makes it really special. As well as what seems like their loving balanced energy as partners....they are actually offering an example of how to be in a way. When Maria packed up my purchases, I could feel her calm caring energy. She sent me off with loving care n I just can't say enough good about this gem of a shop. I will send friends here. If I am in the area again, I will most certainly visit. You should absolutely. You may make a friend. I was briefly outside with Anthony while waiting for the space to open up for my reading after a scheduled class, I took note of how many passers by knew him n said hi. Always...

In response to the owners reply of my initial review. . .

No I do not have this location confused with any other store. There is literally only one metaphysical store in Asbury Park. Not suppling dates and times does not negate my experience at the store but if clarity and details help strive for better customer service I guess.

PROS - The store is beautiful and the products are great. The information given and knowledge on topics was good. I purchased a White Sage, Palo Santo kit and asked for clarification of the names of the stones/crystals I had in a bracelet.

CONS - 1st experience September 21, 2022

The owners are not at all the friendliest. No hi, no can I help you, nothing. The store is a 2x4 and how both owners managed to act as if I wasn't there is beyond me. I legit had to put some base in my voice and make my presence known and there was only one other customer in the store besides me. The energy and aura was off.

2nd experience - January 5, 2023

Google stated the store closed at 5pm. I arrived at 4:50pm. There was a note on the door that read closed for inventory but able to do readings. I figure I would still try to avoid driving to monmouth mall. There was a woman at the cash register (I guess doing inventory because she never looked up the entire time) and a man sitting in a chair close to the door but with his back facing the door. I knocked on the door before trying to open due to the closed sign. When the lady didn't look up from the cash register and the man did not turn around I opened the door and heard the guy asking the woman "Who is knocking at the door?" I then asked if I was able to buy anything and the man responded "No the store is closed," while his back was still to me and the woman never looking up. That was not the best customer service.

A truly special and grounding experience At first, I felt really nervous. But once I asked about a reading and sat down, everything shifted. The reader was kind, intuitive, and immediately picked up on my anxiety. He didn’t just brush it off, he acknowledged it with genuine concern, which helped me relax and open up. His reading was deeply insightful, authentic, and unlike any I’ve had before. It felt real, grounded, and full of thoughtful guidance. He brought up patterns I've been actively working on changing, without me saying a word. Afterward, I spoke with the lady who helped me choose some crystals. I told her I was new to all of this, and she was so patient and kind. She took her time explaining how stones can have meaning but also how that meaning can be personal to each person. She walked me through how to choose based on what I feel drawn to, instead of just what’s written on the card. I came in with a list, but she gently guided me away from things she knew I didn’t really need. I really appreciated that. She wasn’t pushy at all — she actually took time to understand what I needed and guided me gently, helping me connect with the right stones instead of just selling me something. Her energy was so calming and she really felt the moment with me — she could tell when I connected with a stone and validated that. It was such a meaningful part of the visit.

The shop itself is beautiful — unique pieces, peaceful energy, and you can genuinely feel the vibes in the space. The couple who run it are such kind, warm, and genuine people. This is not a touristy gimmick shop — it’s the real thing. I left feeling energized and deeply aligned. If you're new to this world or just looking for a place that actually sees you, come here.
