Pasta Volo — Restaurant in Asbury Park

Both times I've tried pasta volo, the pasta has not been cooked correctly. First time, it was gluey, and the second slightly better but not good (not al dente, just super weird texture like cooked at the wrong temperature or something). Perhaps they need to give it another minute? The second time I watched them make it and they barely dipped it in the boiling water. The inedible pasta is the reason for the low rating.

On a positive note, they have vegan options and the pasta shape, topping, and sauce options are fully customizable. They are also very fast and the prices are reasonable.

I like the idea of these fast casual pasta concepts but the execution here is off. Back in the day, I worked at a place kind of like this before fast casual was a thing - it was kind of like a casual pasta cafe that made fresh pasta and sauce.

The pasta shape selection at pasta volo doesn't really go with the sauce options - would suggest at least one "common" shape. A long shape would be nice to eat from the takeout boxes. THE BEST VODKA SAUCE I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! So, I saw this place on TikTok and we decided to take a little road trip to check it out. First impression - it is a cute little spot with a couple tables, very clean and bright inside. The woman working, who greeted us was so friendly and personable. She welcomed us and told us about how the ordering works. She explained that all of the pasta and sauces and bread is made in house. Let me just start off by saying that I got the gemelli pasta with vodka sauce, pecorino Romano, and toasted breadcrumbs for on top. My friend got the gemelli with pesto and pecorino Romano also and we were so blown away by how amazing it was!!!!! The flavor was insane!! We also tried the salad which Is a MUST HAVE as well as the garlic bread! This really is one of the greatest little pasta places I’ve ever been to, and you cannot beat the quality and quantity you get for the price either!! All the synonyms for perfect and delicious should be used to describe this place! From their product, to the staff, to the environment etc. should each deserve more than just five stars. They have so much pride for the food they make and you can definitely tell by the way they talk about it and of course the taste of it! Each staff member was very welcoming, helpful, and SO kind. Ordering was very simple and quick. They have vegan & gluten free options which was super amazing. We got the vegan vodka sauce for one and the traditional vodka sauce for the other and if we didn’t know which was which, would not even be able to tell! You also get a very generous amount of food per container, if only I had two stomachs! Pasta Volo is authentic, fresh, real, prideful, welcoming, and accommodating. It’s hard enough to accommodate everyone, let alone to also please them.. and this place can do it all ! 10/10 recommend. 10/10 will be back during our next visit...
