Stopped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon and let me tell you, this place did NOT disappoint. We started off with a Caesar salad which was out of this world, and followed it up with a pepperoni garlic knot and a regular garlic knot, which are made with whole cloves of garlic and are OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. We then followed up with a variety of slices: the regular (cheese) is simple, yet truthfully may have been the best slice of pizza I have had in my life. The crust is thin, yet supports the rest of the slice beautifully. The pepperoni slice: the meat I sliced thin and crisps up beautifully, and has just the right amount of spice to ensure the crunch & bite of the slice is spot on. I must however point out the absolute SLEEPER of this establishment is the clam slice - full disclosure I am NOT a fan of clams in the slightest, however I gave this slice a shot and I must say I was delighted at how quality this slice was. If you’re feeling the slightest bit adventurous and/or enjoy clams, this slice is a a MUST. We finished off our meal with a spumoni ice cream, and for those who don’t know, please just come in and order one, you will not be disappointed- brings you back to your childhood in a heartbeat. I would rate this place 10 stars if possible, and cannot wait to return and see what else this place...
Read moreFriendly counter help. Fun decor with loud music. Large space that seats about 25 people...kitchen and bathrooms occupy the majority of square footage of the ground floor-only establishment. Artisanal sodas were simple and enjoyable- we tried the raspberry and the orange vanilla. What am I forgetting? The pizza. Because it was, in a word, forgettable. We ordered a mushroom pie and pepperoni pie for dine-in. While the mushroom slice passed the "fold test" and cracked nicely down the center, the pepperoni was soggier and fell apart at the fold. The crust on both pies had no flavor and had almost a stale quality to it. The overall taste of both pies was underwhelming, we found ourselves needing a lot of grated cheese and crushed red pepper to bring out any flavor (and in the spirit of NY pizza, where was the garlic salt?) In addition, the heavily perfumed scent of the candles burning in both open-doored bathrooms wafted down to the dining area, further interfering with our experience. $74 + tip for 2 basic pies and 5 sodas and we were hungry when we got home. I really wanted to love this place and hope it can elevate it's flavor to live up to it's "Killer" name, but in my opinion there are much better slices to be enjoyed in...
Read moreWhile eating at another downtown spot I saw Killer Pies and wondered if they offered gluten free pizza. To my delight, not only do they offer it but it's pan pizza. I've had to eat gluten free for 8 years and have had my share of pizza but never saw anyone that offered pan pizza. My husband who is not gluten free ordered slices of pepperoni pizza, a pepperoni rotolo and a garlic rotolo and I ordered 2 slices of the gluten free pan pie (a corner and an edge). Disclaimer: We didn't have them heated up because we brought them home for dinner. The staff were very helpful, finished off the slices with an assortment of olive oil, fresh basil and sides of marinara sauce depending on what was ordered and gave reheat tips on the gluten free pizza which was appreciated. This was the BEST gluten free pizza I've ever had. Crunchy, crispy and flavorful. My husband said the rotolo were excellent. I will be ordering an entire gluten free pie next time I'm...
