I was extremely disappointed in a cake that I ordered for my wife on her birthday. When I picked up the cake, I was not impressed as it was very plain looking. I did not make any comments to the cashier as I chalked it up as my fault since I had not specified to how I wanted it decorated. When the cake was cut, it broke into crumbs, and it did not have the usual ingredients that a hummingbird cake normally has. It did not have any bananas, pineapple, or nuts, but it did have cherries which I was not expecting. So, I called the bakery back, and I told a lady there that I thought the cake was mixed up with another cake for a customer that wanted a cherry type cake. The lady said that it was definitely a hummingbird cake, and she said they did not put nuts in their hummingbird cakes. I told her that it also did not have bananas or pineapple either, and then she just told me that everyone loved their hummingbird cake. Instead of arguing with her, I asked her to have the owner call me the next day since she was not there at that time. She promised that the owner would call me the next day, but I never received a call. I was only looking for an apology on the cake. Disappointed with the service I received here today. My fiancé went to pick up two slices of pound cake with buttercream frosting and was told they were out of buttercream but had Italian cream. As he has no idea about types of cakes or frostings he assumed this was another type of frosting and after purchasing and getting home quickly realized this was not a pound cake. We called the store for an explanation and to find out what kind of cake we actually received and they said it was an Italian cream cake, with pecans and cream cheese icing. Due to certain food allergies I am unable to eat this cake but the lady I spoke with over the phone said they can not take the already purchased cake slice back and they were already sold out of the pound cake prior to his arrival, which made me feel even more that they were just trying to push for a sale by not disclosing they were sold out of pound cake that he requested. I must say, I have loved Central Bakery since I was a little girl. My Mom always purchased birthday cakes for me from this bakery. Today, they have lost a customer. The person who assisted me today acted very rude and annoyed with me. Given, I was the one apologizing when they made the order wrong. Needless to say, I left crying, given my week hasn't been great, but this was a terrible experience.

No one told me that the image couldn't be placed on chocolate frosting until the cake was presented to me with white. I had placed the order nearly two weeks before.
