First time at Annie B’s + traveling from out of town + it’s my birthday and I love ice cream more than cake = ordering two flights to sample 8 flavors. I sampled:
Strawberry Mint chocolate chip Cookies and cream Chocolate velvet peanut butter cup Pistachio Snickers Vanilla fudge brownie Red velvet cake
My partner had butter pecan.
1st place = strawberry in all it’s real strawberry glory
2nd place = snickers - it was spot on as to what an ice cream snickers bar tastes like.
3rd place = I’m always a sucker for the delicious simplicity of cookies and cream.
As for the other flavors, the short answer is, I wouldn’t order again. For the long answer, keep reading.
Vanilla fudge brownie: the brownie pieces were perfect. The vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce were just okay. After one bite I passed it over to my partner to eat.
Pistachio: my preference is for a strong nutty flavor. This variation is more of a pistachio Christmas cookie - more sweet than nutty. Passed this one over to my partner too.
Chocolate velvet peanut butter cup: chocolate ice cream not rich, and super dry chunks of peanut butter cups. Normally chocolate peanut butter has been one of my favorite combinations since I was a kid. This just wasn’t memorable for me.
Mint chocolate chip: I eat this ice cream flavor almost on a weekly basis, but I couldn’t finish this variation of it. I threw it out.
Red velvet cake: Not for me at all. I threw it out.
You should definitely give this place a try. I’d love to go back for the strawberry and snickers flavors. Plus this place offers ice cream flights which I love. The employee were super friendly, and this place caters to custom pints which is pretty cool.
Oh you want to know about the butter pecan? My partner said it was good but not his favorite version of it. Again, try it for yourself and form your...
Read moreA friend of mine took me here yesterday after raving about their ice cream. I did get a milkshake and I will say it's some excellent ice cream, hence the two stars instead of one.
However, the interaction we had at the counter had me debating on canceling my order before I even recieved it. My friend mentioned getting a sample, and the lady at the counter (older, short brown hair) said that they don't do samples. My friend mentioned getting one the first time she was in, but we understood and said it was fine and we'd just look over the flavors (they're getting blended anyways, right?) What bothered me is how the woman continued to push for identifying information about the person who gave her the sample three or four times, asking what they looked like, what time it was, etc. My friend honestly couldn't remember and after the last time of the woman's persistence, my friend stated she didn't want to get anyone into trouble. This woman mentioned something about it being her daughter and that its 'okay if she yells at her daughter'. She seemed threatening with how pushy she was over finding out who gave a sample. The whole experience was off putting. After leaving I told my friend it's okay if she goes back, but I'll be taking my money elsewhere. I understand wanting to have a workflow that is consistent between everyone, but yelling at your daughter over giving a...
Read moreI love this place and have spent a lot of money here (the key lime reminds me of a spending time with my deceased grandmother) but we will not be returning. We were accosted last time we went there by a very short man who stopped us from going in the parking lot. By the way he was dressed we thought he was homeless and wanted to give him $10 (it is the holidays and all). He then tells us we are trespassing and was therefore sending our license plate to the police. When we asked who he was because he seemed to need help he told us he was the property manager for all the businesses in the complex. When we asked for identification because we just wanted ice cream but instead he ran behind our car and took pictures of our license plate and then hid in the BlueCross building. We all pay a lot of taxes in Buncombe County and being told we would be turning us into the police for getting ice cream seems to be an obsessive use of both the police and tax dollars (there were plenty of parking places). Maybe he works for BlueCross, and just wanted to deny our claim for ice cream. The best use of time at this business center would be to fix the dangling live? wire that hangs across the entrance of the parking lot. The world has...
