After thinking really hard about this I have decided to post, I am an artist who showed art during the month of January 2025. One of my paintings went missing during my show and Izzy’s coffee shop left the responsibility up to me to deal with the missing painting. I had to file my own police report and make a poster for the missing painting myself. Though they were supposed to be in charge of my art while it was showing in their establishment. I understand that they are showing the art without expecting any money from the artist but , the way I was treated about the situation was not kind. I was treated like I miss placed my own painting. The manager moved the painting without my permission when a small 5”x5” painting sold on the 10th of January. When I came to pick up my art the painting was missing and another painting was unaccounted for as well that took 2 days to track down the money for. I am still missing one of my paintings. I was honestly surprised when it was never an option for them to reimburse me for my painting since it was missing under their care. so ARTISTS BEWARE , get some kind of insurance for your art because Izzy’s does not take responsibility...
Read moreGreat coffee, too bad about the unfriendly folks who work there. I've gone there for years because of the excellent coffee, but I've been amazed at how terrible the service has always been. I've seen smiling happy people come up to the counter, and leave scowling, grumbling and vowing to never come back. I've apologized for it on a number of occasions, telling folks that most places in Asheville have much nicer staff. And that is true. It used to be a joke about how bad the service is in this tourist town,. However, in the last few years, t seems a number of places have realized that its better for their business to treat the folks who spend their money there at least civilly, if not kindly. I remember sitting at a table and seeing several folks in a row be mistreated, and then one of the owners came in, and the young woman who was behind the counter suddenly started smiling and being very friendly to the customers who came up to the counter. So, it is possible to be decent, but only if supervised. Its a shame. I'm done, Odd's Cafe up the street is so much nicer, and I'll miss the Blanchard's beans that Izzy's brews, but its not worth it to go there...
Read moreI don't actually know whether the food/coffee is good, because I left after being ignored for 10 minutes and then passed over for service for the mom and her small child who came in after me but just stepped right up to the counter without asking me whether I was waiting to order. (I had been wandering about after waiting for a few minutes behind the customers who were waiting to order when I arrived--sat at the bar for a few minutes, then walked around looking at the art for sale. But it's a tiny, tiny place. I was about 6 feet from the register when rude mom walked in.) The employee behind the counter had seen me there the whole time; what did they imagine I was waiting for? This is some poor customer service on the staff's part, on top of abominable manners by this woman who came in and and announced to the small child how lucky they were that there was no line. This place lost its chance to make a good impression. I won't...
