So I ordered beans from the online menu. All I see on the menu is black beans and Beans. So I’m thinking I was going to get whole beans. So I call and said I order beans on your menu thinking I was getting whole bean… The MANAGER proceeded to tell me I will tell the online manager to fix that, but there was nothing he could do about it because I ordered beans, and he said everybody know when you order beans it’s refried beans. Instead of fixing a simple solution, which is just give the whole bean to the customers, he refuse to give me the bean and pretty much said I was stuck with the refried bean but thank for letting us know so the online manager can fixed the problem. For $3.75. What great customer service. SMH Plus my food was nasty, but I ate it anyway cause I was hungry cheese was suppose to be melted but as you can see in the picture it wasn’t, and the rice was overcooked. This was the only bad review I have ever wrote in my life but the person that claimed to be the manager need to take some Chick-fil-A classes in customer service. I usually enjoy my food there in all fairness, but with that so call manager there, I won’t be going back to that location. I should’ve went to El Que Pasa, which I love, same company but good customer service.

I just happened to be in the area and tried this place out. First thing I noticed is that they have ample parking which is good because there were plenty of customers which is a good sign. Upon entering I was promptly greeted and sat. They have a pretty broad menu so I settled on combination 13 Macho Mexicano because it had a good sampling of different items. I've provided a picture so you can see what it looks like. They also have a fresh salsa bar with double the options that I've seen at other places with Salsa bars. Since they have a salsa bar they provide a bean dip with your tortilla chips. Everything I ate here was delicious and seemed to be of higher quality than your typical Mexican restaurant. Love that they have my favorite pumpkin salsa which is a slight orange color both creamy and spicy. I also liked their tomatillo verde salsa which wasn't watery like some I've had. My entree came with a little sweet corn cake which I saved for last. My server Monzerrat, according to my receipt, provided great service despite how busy she was. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant now which is bad for me because I live 2 hours away. I'll definitely stop by here again in a couple weeks when I'm back in the area.

We happened upon this place while we were walking near our hotel and decided to give them a try. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The outdoor area was covered, and the weather was beautiful, so it was a pleasant atmosphere for a meal. My wife and I shared the Papa's Grande Platter. It has nachos, wings, a quesadilla, two beef taquitos, and a beef and potato flauta. There was so much value in this platter. The food was delicious too. My only issue was that I felt the wings didn't belong. They got covered in the toppings. Other than that, it was incredible. I would definitely suggest going here. Also, the outdoor area is pet-friendly, which is a plus for us.

I got to Papas and Beer a little after lunch time and were quite pleased to find absolutely no wait. We still had a long drive ahead of us to get back to Charlotte and the thought of waiting for food.. sitting and eating.. then getting on the road for three hours wasn't sounding all that much fun. Luckily for us we walked in and were seated immediately.

Wait.. whats this... a SALSA BAR!!!!!!

After the server brought out some chips and been dip we asked if there were any salsa choices for the chips and they kindly pointed us in the direction of the vast salsa bar. There were maybe 10 different flavors ranging from mild to hot.. but nothing over the top.

I got the Chilaquiles because of all of the Mexican food I've eaten over the years.. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS ON A MENU. Which is a shame because the dish was amazing. All I ever see on menu's are the same old boring Mexican restaurant standards... enchiladas, tacos, burritos, nachos, burgers and french fries, I honestly don't believe Mexicans eat one of those things every day of the year. So it was a blessed surprise to see something new on a menu and I ate it up :)

For those don't know what a chilaquiles is... at Papas and Beer its a big pile of grilled chicken, corn tortilla strips, a fried egg, some salsa, cheese, and a sauce I forgot the name of.. but it might have been molcajete sauce. As with most dishes this dish can vary depending on the region it reflects.

Quick service, big portions, cheap pricing.. we've only been to one Mexican restaurant in Asheville (Papas and Beer) and after our first trip I don't think we will ever go anywhere else. If you're int he are its definitely worth getting off the highway and...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of Asheville’s best spots for Mexican food—hands down! If you haven’t been to Papas & Beer, do yourself a favor and go ASAP. This place is a local favorite for good reason: the food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. Whether you're craving sizzling fajitas, street tacos, a massive burrito, or just some chips and queso, you’ll leave happy and full every single time.

The menu is huge, with something for everyone—including vegetarian and lighter options—but the real stars are their authentic flavors and homemade salsas. Their tableside guacamole is a must-try—made fresh right in front of you!

On top of the delicious food, the service is always top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. It’s a perfect spot for family dinners, date nights, or just meeting up with friends for margaritas (which, by the way, are amazing).

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a festive vibe, and even when they’re busy (which is often—it’s that good), they keep things running smoothly.

📍 Conveniently located in Asheville 🕒 Fast, friendly service 🌮 Authentic Mexican food 🍹 Killer margaritas 🥑 Tableside guac = heaven

If you’re looking for a place with great food, great service, and great prices, Papas & Beer should be at the top of your list. One visit and...

Papa's and Beer canceled my order to feed 180 people for my daughters wedding Monday at 5pm 5 days prior to her Saturday wedding. The menu was set and all salsa was taste tested. It had been confirmed at least 3 times and deposit had been paid. Their reason was not enough resources or staff to cook the food. Not true. They gave no help to me, just come get your refund. After I spoke to the owner and told him I went to his competition for the food. He did apologize and offer whatever I wanted above what they were doing he would give me free. A kind gesture of course but when I asked for the salsa and chips and 6 cheese dip that would have come in my original order he only gave me the salsa and only 2 cheese dip. The person that picked up the food for me had to ask for chips and they only brought 2 grocery bags of chips. Originally it was a box with 8 32 oz salsas and 6 32 oz cheese dip in order. Bottom line they simply didn't want to fulfill the order because the quote was lower than what they were willing to cook it for. If there had been real communication from the owner or management I would have gladly paid more to have my daughters wishes for her wedding completed. Lesson to them and to me. Sadly Papa's and Beer and El que Pasa used to be our favorite restaurant. Won't...
