Definitely do not come here. Just go away. Food is amazing and feels more authentic than other cookie cutter sweet and sour Asian restaurants. When the wife takes your order and her husband cooks each one to your liking, you know you have stumbled into something special. I know I did when I first moved to Asheville and first wondered how could a gas station restaurant be good. Now visits are almost weekly including large lunch orders for co-workers. If you are not interested in heeding my first comment, come early as the wait can be long (to be expected with each dish cooked separately with pan washing in between). But the rewards of large portioned and deliciously fragrant meals are well worth it. Prices are also low enough you can splurge on the other gas station priced candy, snacks and drinks

For many years this was my favorite Thai place, after today I won’t be going back. I ordered takeout, Thai spicy tom yum soup and the chicken dumplings. The soup was very bland, almost seemed thrown together in minutes, absolutely no spice. I just threw it away. The dumplings were fine until I bit into a crunchy shrimp tail inside my “chicken dumplings”. I wasn’t given a spoon for my soup and apparently they don’t carry condiments anymore such as soy sauce. Very rude when picking up my order, no eye contact, barely acknowledged me waiting. I can agree that this place has gone down hill, not happy to see a 92 for health score either. You will be much happier ordering from Tasty Thai a few miles up the road, my now favorite!

This is easily the best place to get Thai food in Asheville and around - and I say that having been to no less than 10 other Thai places in the area. Why? Noodles. Pad see ew and drunken noodles are actually fresh here, as in wide, soft, perfect textured noodles that absorb every flavor - unlike the dried noodles most stores just boil and use. And the other reason is portion. Unlike some places, you order here and get a proper, full plate. $15 otd for takeout tops it off. Go here.

I wish I could write a better review for this place but unfortunately, after the experience I had today I have to give it zero stars. I ordered some chicken pad Thai on a Saturday night. Typically I love pad Thai and I always have extras and honestly, I think pad Thai is better when it is leftovers so had no issues in thinking it wouldn’t be good the next day. The pad Thai tasted like there was eggshells in it, but it wasn’t egg shells. It was much bigger clumps of white hard matter, and then I even found hard clumps within the noodles, and the cabbage was unable to be chewed. Again, I’ve ordered from this place several several times before hurricane Helene, which caused me to leave the city for about a year or so, but this was my first time back since then and maybe some things have changed with ingredients and what not. Anyways This place is typically closed on a Sunday so I attempted to call but then shortly realized that they’re closed. I saved the food to bring it back and tried to get a refund or at least get a replacement. So I ended up calling on Monday and when I called the lady who owns the business she sounded pretty rude when I told her about the food quality and request for a refund. However it was kind of hard to understand her because there was a bit of a communication barrier with language. I could tell that she was unhappy with me, not liking the food and wanting a refund, but I just thought maybe there was confusion so I asked if I should come in person and very rudely she said sure. So I shortly arrived at the restaurant and I immediately got a smile until she realized I was a person wanting a refund. She kept like interrogating me with questions with “why?” “why why did you eat it if you don’t like it”. There was about probably 80% of the food left in the box because 20% I attempted to eat when I wanted to eat the food I purchased and didn’t feel the need to put chewed up and spit back out food back in the box. So she just kept shaking her head acting very rude and kept asking me questions like what do you want? I requested a refund once again. She finally gave me six dollars out of the 16 that I spent on the pad Thai on top of an unfortunate tip I left and I just figured that was fine at that point as I was getting pretty anxious with the way she was treating me And it wasn’t worth a fight over seven dollars or so. Short story, she basically told me to not come back and if you don’t like your food well don’t eat it if you want a refund lol and maybe don’t request a refund or you will be shamed away and be treated very rudely and unfortunately I cannot go back to what was once my favorite Thai spot and yeah, I just wanted to share my experience so hopefully people wouldn’t have any similar issues and maybe the owners want to fix some things, but probably not by the way I was treated...

Honest review here. The food is tasty. However, the service is NOT GOOD. The lady who runs the restaurant (short, early 60's maybe) is RUDE. She doesn't speak much English, but that's not so much an issue. Her daughter (?), taller lady, mid 40's, attractive.... speaks a little more English but both are RUDE. They purposely put crispy egg roles in our bag when we specifically (and slowly) pronounced "fresh spring roll." When we received our food (and had already paid, of course)... we notice crispy egg roles (very oily, btw). We politely told them that we ordered fresh spring roll, and the younger lady tried to tell me that it's the same thing. And I told her it's NOT the same thing becuase her menu specifically indicates 2 different items, and we asked for the spring roll because it's not fried. She said something in her language to the older lady and the both lauged and said "We don't have today, you eat crispy roll, ok?" (You can't make this up) My husband was hungry and didn't want drama, so he nudged me and said not to worry about it. But I told the younger lady this is bad customer service and she should not treat her customers like that. She laughed and said "ok sorry." and turned and walked back into the kitchen. ALSO, no napkins or utensils were provided so my husband had to go in and ask and they told him to walk inside kitchen to get them off the table. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Just because the food is tasty, but it's not the only place with tasty food. Plus it's inside a very unattractive gas station and the gas station owner (speaks English) is as rude as the PONS people. GO...

What all the hype about? I was passing through town, to visit family in Charlotte. My sister, who had tried it 3 years ago, when she lived in the area told me I had to swing in and try it.

I placed my order, while pointing at the menu (that I was handed). I was surprised when the girl said it would be $10.23 for a meal that is listed for $8.50. When I asked about the discrepancy, I was shown a magic menu. It is kept behind the counter with the new prices. The owner told me it was $10.00 because pork went up, and that I should have ordered the beef..!?

I was hungry after driving straight through from MN, to visit family in Charlotte, and just wanted something more than a protein bar. When I got my meal, it was wide rice noodles, not rice noodles as stated on the menu. Accompanying the wrong noodle was, frozen broccoli that I watched her pull out of the freezer. The thing that put me over was all the dried basil that she shook out of a container that I'm assuming she bought at Cosco . ( see the photo, that may be why she charged more, it's SO much basil)

When I brought it up and asked why there was dried basil, the owner said " there is no more fresh basil today"!

I asked about the noodles and she said " they still rice".

I asked why I was charged the same price as the product represented on the menu, she got upset and started getting loud. At that point I just threw it in the trash and left. I will heat my own frozen Asian cuisine in the microwave at home before coming here ever again. At least then I know what I'm getting and don't even have to put...
