UPDATE: We went back to Soprana last night! Shane and Brian took care of us so well. We started with the burrata (those tomatoes and pesto were divine) and I thought when Shane brought it out, man this looks amazing, I just wish it had a little more bread. He read my mind and brought more out immediately! We shared the Caesar salad which might have been the best classic caesar salad I've ever had and then we both had the Asheville pizza which was just as delicious as last time.
We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and they gave us a free dessert to mark the occasion. From start to finish, the experience was 5/5. Grateful we gave Soprana another try; it's probably going to become one of our go to's now!
Thanks Brian & Shane!
Gosh, this was an interesting experience!
The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL and the food is seriously amazing! We loved our pizza and pasta. Seriously, the dough was perfect, toppings were carefully selected and the pasta was just a great combo of flavors!
However, the service was abismal.
I genuinely cannot remember the last time I had such a cold, inattentive server. Megan (as it said on our receipt, she never said her name to us) greeted us shortly and wasn’t too cold upon first interaction although we realized she was a little short.
However, every subsequent interaction with her she barely said anything to us and when she did it was the opposite of warm and friendly. She barely visited our table and each time she did we kept asking ourselves afterwards “is there something wrong with us? what did we do?” However, we kept trying to be extra friendly with her to combat this just in case she got a weird vibe from us walking in or something! But it didn’t change how she was with us.
We also got told by the host as we were seated that if the wind was too much, we could let a server know and they could shut it for us. When we asked a different server to shut it for us, she said she could close it a bit but she would have to get through the opening. Which didn’t help the wind at all! However the host ended up coming and shutting it herself which was lovely. But it kept getting reopened by a couple of servers including our own which was frustrating.
All of this to say, if we had had warm, attentive service, this would have been an easy 5/5 experience and the best italian we’ve had in Asheville. Totally willing to try again but we will be raving about the food to our friends with the caveat that we had...

This is my first ever rooftop restaurant experience.
Some of THE best pizza I've had in Asheville, or anywhere for that matter. I ordered "The Asheville pizza." Flavor, quality, is all there. The crust was my favorite part. Thin, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Perfection. I ordered the hot honey on the side to drizzle on a few of my slices. Definitely adds a good sweet/heat touch.
The wine I ordered was great too. Casa Vinicola Bennati Lambrusco, Cornale. Sweet, sparkling and fruity. Not too strong. Exactly how I like it. Very good tasting wine.
For dessert I ordered their take on Affogoto. Salted Caramel covered vanilla bean Gelato, espresso, amaretti cookies topped with powered sugar and dark chocolate covered espresso beans. My first Affogoto experience was great as well.
Service is phenomenal. Extremely friendly, welcoming staff. My server Chris was very nice and informative and had a positive, smiling attitude the whole time.
The view is phenomenal too. Amazing setting and and amazing backdrop over-looking Asheville and the mountains.
Overall, I would say everything so far about Soprana is that it's a huge win and I was VERY impressed. Will definitely be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Edit 4/06/2024: Just as good experience as the first time. I ate inside this time and ordered the chop house pizza. It was phenomenal. Waitress Erin was friendly, great, and recommended the ice cream sandwich dessert wich was good! The hostess at the front, Jenni is awesome. Very welcoming with a great smile and super nice. She even came to my table to check on me after I had my meal and asked me how everything was. Never have I had a host or hostess check up on me as I'm dining at ANY restaurant. That was a great surprise and very much appreciated.
Two visits within a week and I assure you this place is the place. Amazing pizza with super friendly staff. Very helpful, everyone with a smile and positive attitude. Will definitely be back alot. One of THE best restaurants in Asheville. Especially when it comes to customer service and the PIZZA. Worth every penny. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Edit: 7/13/24: I took a New Yorker on a date here a few days ago and she gave the pizza a 10/10. Which it always is. Hands down best pizza in town. Always amazing friendly staff...
Read moreA Slice of Heaven with a Side of Asheville's Skyline From the moment you step out onto the terrace of Sopranos Rooftop Culinary, you're not just entering a restaurant; you're stepping into an experience. Asheville, in all its majestic glory, stretches out before you, an ever-changing tapestry of rolling Blue Ridge Mountains and the twinkling lights of the city below. As the sun began its descent, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, the view alone was enough to make Sopranos a must-visit. But a great view, while a fantastic appetizer, needs a stellar main course, and Sopranos delivers. The service here is nothing short of wonderful. Our server, with a genuine smile and an impressive knowledge of the menu, guided us through the offerings, anticipating our needs without ever being intrusive. Drinks appeared promptly, water glasses were magically refilled, and every interaction felt like a warm welcome rather than a mere transaction. It’s the kind of attentive yet relaxed service that truly elevates a dining experience. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the pizza. We opted for the Spicey Italian (blanco), and it arrived, piping hot, with a crust that was a masterclass in texture – perfectly crisp on the outside, with a delightful chewiness within. Each bite was a testament to quality ingredients. The sauce was bright and tangy, the cheese melted to perfection, and the toppings [describe toppings briefly, e.g., "generously distributed and bursting with flavor" or "fresh and vibrant"]. It was clear that this wasn't just a pizza; it was a carefully crafted culinary creation designed to be savored. Pairing that incredible pizza with the breathtaking vista, under the watchful eye of such accommodating staff, made for an unforgettable evening. Sopranos Rooftop Culinary isn't just a place to eat; it's a destination where every element – from the panoramic views to the impeccable service and, most importantly, the truly outstanding pizza – harmonizes to create a truly magical dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to carve out time for Sopranos; your taste buds (and your eyes)...
