While on my bachelorette party, this bar was recommended by locals for dancing and a good atmosphere and was advertised as safe. So we walked, when we arrived the door man ran up behind my friends to get to the door and spooked us, but we still went in. The atmosphere is unique, definitely gives local vibes. However, we quickly learned it is not a safe space. When we walked in many stares were directed at us, and we are pretty sure some male customers took sneaky photos of us. The only plus was that the bartender was very sweet.
One of my friends and I went to the bathroom together (both a little unsafe feeling so we went together.) We went to the bathroom and went in together, once again feeling unsafe and not wanting to be alone. The first red flag, the bathroom door DOES NOT LOCK. We tried for a couple minutes but the lock was jammed in some way, so we just stood in front of the door. While using the bathroom a male customer RIPPED the door open and went “OMG SORRY” then left. We finished our business thinking it was an accident, and as soon as we left the bathroom, the door man scolded us for being in the bathroom together saying “Don’t EVER go in the bathroom together again or you will be in BIG trouble and so will I.” We were freaked out and walking back to our friends when another friend approached us sharing that the guy who had walked in on us went back to his friends bragging about seeing a woman use the bathroom. Making disgusting, sexual, and overall uncomfortable comments by both him and his friends. We left immediately after, and were followed by a car out of the parking lot for quite a few blocks. Finally losing him to him getting cut off by another car.
I DO NOT recommend this bar, we all feel so unsafe just thinking about...
Read moreI was here 05/25/25, visiting this city for the first time and got to find this Gem. It was small but COZY. Very welcoming and attentive staff (Bartender especially) The door guy was nice too. Drinks were tasty & inexpensive. I did show up around 8:30ish, stayed till 11:30ish. By 11pm it was getting packed and the bartender was overwhelmed? She did great though! Payed $10 to see Forfiture and they did amazing. They had 3 live shows that night. Never heard of them before but I am now a new fan🖤 Bathrooms were clean &spacious, drinks were delicious, staff was sweet, and the show was GREAT 10 out f 10. Also, I was not dressed for this place at all, sorta looked like I was going to church (haha) but again, no judgement from anyone 🥰 Thank you guys. If you're nervous to check this place out, I say don't be! I took a Lyft here but the parking lot looked to extend to the back of the building. Also walked here from downtown, took 15 minutes 🤘🏽 P.s the bathroom...
Read more*27 Club is just what Asheville needed! A bar/music venue dedicated to deceased musicians, with a dark theme & welcoming vibe. *The customer service is outstanding. Staff at 27 Club are attentive AND friendly. The owners are 2 of the kindest people I've ever met. *Vintage posters of incredible musicians, gone but not forgotten, replace the typical flat screen tv decor that most bars provide. This "old school" interior promotes human interaction, an actual social environment, with real conversation! *The playlist at the bar is ever changing and amazing, Something for everyone is an understatement. *In the garage, artists/bands of all genres have plenty of room to perform. 27 club doesn't even take a cut of the small cover that is sometimes charged when there are live performances. They instead, give it to the musicians who perform there. What a great idea?! *Asheville is better because of this establishment and would now suffer...
