This review has been a long time coming and Deserved!
I came to Patton Ave Pet (DOWNTOWN) after becoming unhappy with another small/locally owned business that I have been loyal to since 2002. The staff and owner became increasingly unfriendly and I did not agree with their business practices. Ā So I went looking for a new place that carries the cat food that I get (a hard kibble from Italy and a variety of raw food). I found that Patton Avenue Pet had the products I was looking for. Jessica was one of the first to help me. She really helped me transition the cats to eating more variety of raw flavors and then to a fully raw diet. She shared her experiences with her cats and it gave me some ideas. I had some hiccups at the beginning with the raw. A couple of my cats were throwing it up and a couple were turning their nose up at it. Jessās suggestions helped me get through these hiccups and helped me learn to be more creative with feeding.
I have been going to PAP for about three years now and Iāve got to know the whole staff.
Alyssa has been great! She has always been friendly and helpful! She rocks it out, making sure that Iām taking care of, when I place my 30 pound orders to get 10% off.
Dylan is awesome! Also very friendly and helpful! Rocks out taking orders to get the 10% off the 30 pounds purchase. I donāt know how sheās from Brooklyn, sheās so friendly lol!
Emma is pretty rad as well! Sheās always friendly, and helpful, willing to jump in and load. I was surprised to find out that she was the manager with her being so active with the customers. Which I think is pretty cool!
Well, I have had no complaints since Iāve been at PAP, and if you know me, Iād have no problem saying. I can be critical or have high expectations. The owner has been willing to work with me on buying bulk, and I havenāt even met her.
The last thing Iāll say to sum up my experience. All the staff at PAP have been really friendly, outgoing and helpful! āCustomer Service has been Stellarā. I like the down to earth atmosphere and customer service. I just recently went to the south and west location for the first time and the service was good. Not like DOWNTOWN!!!! I think the owners of PAP have something really going for them, with a high caliber of people working there. Growing up in businesses and also being in business for myself, exceptional customer service always stands out.

Usually double the price. I purchased a defective harness for my puppy, exchanged it no problem for a New one. A few weeks later it rips in the exact same place! This is not a place a dog could even physically chew it. It's under her neck on her chest. I went to the Patton ave location and the girl agreed it was ripped, not chewed. But said the owner wouldn't let them exchange it. I'm not even asking for a refund, just a harness my dog can use. I asked to speak to her (on the phone) she wouldnt even let me get a word in. I asked her repeatedly to please let me speak my concern. Nope wouldn't happen! So I drove to the downtown location and was told she wouldn't be back today but they would call and see when she will be back. They "said" she didn't answer her phone. I said I'd wait until she called back to let them know when she will be in next. Well apparently they lied because she came back after they saw I wasn't leaving. I once again showed her the defective harness (the SECOND one) and she told me I was a liar and that I could go shop on chewy and that she wasn't giving me my money back or a new harness (which was all I wanted). She even asked why I came down there, that she wasn't helping me. She literally RIPPED the package out of my hand to show me the phone number to the company. I have never in my life seen such an unprofessional "business" owner. I use the term business very loosely. Me and my mom spend hundreds of dollars in her store a month and apparently $40 isn't worth keeping not one but two customers happy. When I told her that she responded with "I have lots of good customers" š
Had she been nice to me and let me express my concerns I would've bought a new harness from her store and continued to shop there. But I refuse to be treated the way I was by anyone. And to top it off I was mocked on my way out by one of their male employees. If you sell a defective product, own up to it, admit a mistake and offer to fix it. Isn't that like business 101? Bought Weruva canned cat food because I was told by the store that it is guaranteed so if she doesnāt like it, I can bring it back for a refund/exchange even if itās been opened. She didnāt like any of the different chicken flavors so I brought them back (4 opened, 13 unopened) to exchange for fish which she did like. I was sternly told āno we wonāt exchange the opened ones, you must have misunderstoodā. I didnāt want to waste any more of my morning since it clearly wasnāt up for discussion, so I said Iām confused because thatās not what I was told, but ok thatās fine Iāll just exchange the unopened ones. I got home and looked on their website and it clearly states they honor manufacturer guarantees and will refund opened food if itās guaranteed by the manufacturer. The Weruva manufacturer guarantee states that empty cans can be returned to the place of purchase for a refund if your pet isnāt pleased. I went back again to show this to the same employees and asked for a refund on the 4 empty cans. I was met with āya ok fine I mean we can do that for you this time but not in the future because our owner decides the policy.ā Well why is the owner stating a different policy than whatās on both their website and the manufacturers website? Why shouldnāt I shop somewhere else that honors guarantees like they say they will? It was time consuming and frustrating.
