Great little spot with excellent food and lots of drink options. If you like to add a little liquid heat be sure to ask for the hot sauce tray. It's about the size of a large metal pizza sheet and almost completely covered with bottles of hot sauce. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. Attracts a mostly trendy, local crowd. This unique location used to be a train station and the tracks are still actively used. There is a designated smoking area where the platform would have been on the back side. Due to the nature of the interior (and alcohol consumed by the patrons) it can get quite loud inside. Later the noise often becomes a deafening din that only a passing freight train is able to match. Around the side and front there are seating options that afford the ability to converse at normal speaking volume. Though perhaps not standard review fare, the men's restroom is a good example of some of the little touches. It's thoughtfully designed to include a little ledge above the urinal (likely to help discourage setting your beer on the antique windows). And, I mean come on, they put a sticker with their logo on the restroom cleaner. What's not to like? Whimsical? Yes. Quaint? Check. Fun & friendly, good food and drink....
Read moreLocated in a historic train depot, this restaurant gives plenty to look at and think about as you wait to place your order or for your food to arrive. The food was great and the staff was friendly and attentive. The ahi tuna tacos were incredible! Our family fought over them. They come three to a serving but our waitress offered to add one more. We also enjoyed the cheesefries. Pretty typical but the bacon was left in large chunks and it was fabulous. I had the brisket with Cheerwine BBQ sauce! Oh, yum. I upgraded my fries to frites and it was worth it. My teen had salmon with double mashed potatoes and declared it outstanding. My younger boy enjoyed his chicken strips and fries. Both boys loved the Cherry Drop drink. It is Cheerwine layered over Sundrop. I have to admit it was mighty tasty. My husband had the burger and fries. He lamented that he didn't add the bacon... don't make his mistake. Save room for the homemade desserts. We enjoyed the layered cheesecake...a cheesecake with devil's food cake on top and frosted in buttercream. But the highlight was my cocont cream pie. By the time it made the rounds at the table I only had two bites! This is a must do while...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Asheville for the first time and decided to try this bar/restaurant. Food and service was amazing but 2 hours later we decided to came back which was a mistake which I regret, as the hostess was rude and after we let him know we just wanted to have drinks..... he said there is not enough space at the bar and offered us seat outside (it was 51 degrees and we just arrived from Florida), we still asked to seat inside and when we came inside we noticed there were at least 10 free tables with good spacing between all tables. So I think for them its important how much money you spend. Our waitress was amazing but the hostess was nice during our first visit since we went money on drinks/food but second visit the same hostess gave us attitude after we let him know we justed wanted drinks. Just don't let the hostess know what you will be ordering and all...
