I had lots of expectations from the shop but they fell short on a lot of items. Location: This place shares a parking lot with an apt complex. There are very few parking spots available so if it gets busy you are out of luck. The space opposite the shop has big signs of your car being towed so thats a no go. Ambiance/Space: The ambiance is great, a millennial coffee shop type look I guess ? But there are very few seating options. On a weekend morning we counted at least 7 parties that walked in looking for space to sit and eat. Food: Lots of bagels to pick from the one reason I have as many stars. Also a few sandwich options. Coffee options were standard for a coffee bagel shop. The reason I took away a star is that the egg and cheese on a bagel was cold on the inside. Not ice cold but more like fridge cold. I get it that small shops can't really afford to spend time on cooking and serving but if they are using frozen goods, at least make sure the food is hot when you serve them. The bagels were hard on the edges and chewy inside which means they were not really fresh or have been kept out too long. It's a decent place to try something out once but I would prefer the bagels from the nearby Dunkin and for the ambiance there are a lot of other shops within a mile or two that share the same vibe. This was the second weekend after opening so maybe things will improve but as of now I can't think of any reasons where they deserve a...
Read moreI've been to bagel table many times. It's easy and convenient but not very good. My biggest problem with the bagel table though is that the owner doesn't always wear gloves when preparing food. Today, she was handed a bagel by the cashier (with a pair of tongs) - the owner was sweeping the floor and cleaning, immediately grabbed the bagel with her bare hands and started to prepare my food. After reviewing local health guidelines I didn't feel comfortable eating the bagel she touched with her bare hands. I went back and quietly told her what had happened and I didn't feel comfortable eating the bagel. Without hesitation she ripped the bag from my hands and said "I'll make you another one." I was so shocked that she pulled it from my hands that I didn't know what to say. She then preceded to lecture me and tell me that "she always wears gloves." This is of course, not true and I saw her grab the bagel with her bare hands after sweeping the floor and cleaning. She continued to tell me I was wrong and "I didn't see things." I asked for a refund which the cashier processed and I left. The fact that the owner decided to lash out at me, and yell at me, instead of being honest was really shocking. I will no longer be going to the bagel table in ashland and I can no longer recommend this...
Read moreTerrible bagel aside, this was an all around bad experience. I ordered my two dry bagels, the polite teenage employee was putting them into a bag, and another polite employee came to the counter to tell me I couldn’t have my tumbler inside, and that I could wait outside with it. I had been in the shop for about 60 seconds and my order consisted of putting two untoasted bagels in a bag, so I said “sure I’m just grabbing my bagels and leaving.” At this point, the owner/manager pointed out that there is a “no outside food and drink” sign by the register (there is, I admit I hadn’t seen it since I really hadn’t been there long) and told me that “this hasn’t ever been a problem before and that I can leave if I don’t like the policy”…. Which I had always intended to do, after getting what I paid for… 10 seconds after paying for it. I can appreciate that having a branded cup from another shop could be bad for business. I could also understand if I was making a huge mess with my own tumbler. But a black yeti in hand, in a completely empty shop, when ordering something to go REALLY doesn’t feel like a reason to ask a customer to leave with an attitude. Weird vibe, grocery store bakery tasting bagel. Can’t say...
