More sushi lovers need to come here. They have a lot of very high quality fish for the area (even compared to downtown) including Toro, Uni, Bluefin Tuna. Let's get the word out!! For the rolls, a lot of them look like they're geared to people who don't like the taste of fish as much (it's a local gem) but the sushi and sashimi are worth the trip out of the city. Note that they do not take online reservations.

About 15 miles north of Richmond in the charming railroad town of Ashland, you’ll find one of the better Japanese restaurants in the Richmond area (in a strip mall near I-95.) Proprietor and chef Mr. Choi is Korean but is pretty skilled at Japanese sushi. They also offer some interesting westernized foods. The service is great, and if you’re lucky, Mr. Choi will play the piano for you.

The sashimi we had ordered was great, tasted a bit old, but I did go there late in the Afternoon. The staff was great and really polite, fast with the orders and just had a great vibe. Loved the decorations, but definitely dont go late at night unless you like eating in empty-ish restaurants. Winter is Coming (they have a House Stark poster!)

After being in the road for hours with the wife we stopped in to get a bite due to the reviews. Well as a service members of 16 years now I can say I traveled the world and have never felt so disgusted with how I felt I was treated. We sat there for 45 mins was spoken to only regarding what appetizer we wanted. 45 mins in people who walked in WAY after we did had already been on their second or third orders. I NEVER put up a review but I. This time. Me being Latino and my wife black (the only ones in the restaurant) it clicked for me. Then when we said we wanted to leave goodbye they bring us the bill of $74. We said u know what we might as well wait for some to go boxes. The fact that after an hour of being there they still wanted to charge us full price for our food that WE DID NOT GET was crazy to me. As a minority and as a service member is say this place robbed us of our money, and dignity because we could see the couple's talking about us as we told the waitress we couldn't wait any more and we wanted to leave. Let's not forget that no manager or owner ever came to speak with us. They left the poor waitress to defend herself and the restaurant. Got back to our hotel and yeah the food was basic and underwhelming def NOT worth $74 for and appetizer and 4 rolls. STAY AWAY FROM FROM THIS PLACE, n btw $13-$15 for a sushi roll that has imitation crab is another BS flag I will throw. If your a minority, STAY AWAY, my military brothers and sisters STAY AWAY. Btw let me add that all the 5 star reviews must be friends or employee's no way people can feel that great about that...

Yokozuna Sushi Review

I had the pleasure of dining at Yokozuna Sushi in Ashland, Virginia last night, and I can confidently say it surpasses any sushi restaurant I've visited in the DC area. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was welcomed by a warm atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable dining experience.

The creativity of the premium rolls at Yokozuna is truly exceptional. Each roll is a work of art, showcasing not only fresh ingredients but also innovative flavor combinations that delight the palate. I was particularly impressed by how vibrant and fresh each component tasted, a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality.

The service was equally outstanding. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and you could tell that the owners take great pride in their establishment. They paid close attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of the meal was perfect—from the presentation to the service itself. It’s refreshing to see such a personal touch in a restaurant.

As someone who frequently dines in the DC area, I can honestly say that Yokozuna Sushi has set a new standard for me. It’s a shame it’s not closer to home, as I would love to make this my go-to sushi spot. If you find yourself in Ashland, do yourself a favor and visit Yokozuna Sushi. It’s undoubtedly the best restaurant in the area and a hidden gem that deserves all...

I would’ve given zero stars if I could. I have been to this place one other time and the first time was great. Unfortunately the second time the owner was too busy sitting at the bar taking shots of liquor with a customer to tend to his other customers. Upon arrival I was told that they do not have any more sushi because the owner isn’t making anymore. Mind you this was an hour before they close. I had a limited selection. I ordered a spring roll and a ginger salad and as the menu described fried shrimp with vegetables and rice. What I received was not this. I received literally fried vegetables with white rice. I would’ve gotten sick if I ate this. I advised the waiter respectfully that this is not what I ordered I wouldn’t be able to eat it and asked for the check. Upon doing so the owner actually screamed across the restaurant you need to eat this this is a business. I am just so disgusted I can’t even put it into words. NeedLess to say I will not ever be returning here. I do not recommend at all. This is exactly how businesses go under, not valuing customers and being...
