Located in the heart of downtown historic Astoria, across from the Liberty Theater, step back in time to a restaurant and lounge with the feel of the regal 1920s! Cozy up to one of their fireplaces and enjoy their intimate spaces. Here was my experience around 9:45 in the morning: Having read here on Google that they do takeout, I walked in looking for a takeout menu by the entrance. I was welcomed (read: accosted) by a woman who simply said: “No outside drink is allowed in here.” (I was holding a coffee cup in my hand) My response: “Sorry, I was just looking to get take out.” Her response: “We don’t do takeout.” My response: I left. Two recommendations for the management: 1. Don’t “greet” people by putting them on the defensive, it doesn’t set a good tone for the experience moving forward. 2. Even if you did remember to change your takeout option on your Google page (which you didn’t), you should never give snooty responses to people when they ask about takeout. In reply to the owners response to my original review: 1. “Crowd Control”? I was the only person in the foyer. Regardless, that’s no excuse for being rude to people. This is not how you run a business. 2. If you’ve never done to-go food then you should change what’s written on your Google business page. I included a photo for your reference and even after you’re response to my review, it still says you do take-out.

We had an absolutely amazing dining experience here. Our server was very friendly and attentive and made our whole evening pleasant. We ordered a rose (suggested by our waitress) and a martini. Both were incredible. My husband thought the martini was the best he'd ever had, and I even enjoyed a sip when I don't like martinis. It was very smooth and the spirits were obviously of good quality. We were not very hungry, so we shared a salad and the chicken satay. Both were delicious. Dinner came with house made rolls and butter, which were soft and perfect. Not too sweet or bland. We both had dessert afterwards, a coconut buttercream cake on special and the pot de creme. Heavenly! The restaurant is in a lovely older building with a large fireplace and some lovely accents. My favorites were the giant mirrors, the lanterns above the entrance, and the postcards displayed along the hall to the bathroom.

I made reservations for a special dinner. When we arrived on time we were told they needed more time before they sat us because they were busy. No problem there. Once we sat we were then not approached for a good 10-15 mins. The bartender came over and grumpily asked for our drink order and I asked for an appetizer. Once the drinks were there and the appetizer got there then our server who we just then meeting came over and asked If we wanted to order food. We ordered our food and about 30 mins it came out and was delivered by the host. We asked her for a drink menu because our drinks were empty and had been for awhile. Incredible food! On point for sure. No one came and asked us how the food was, no one came and asked us for drink refills which had now been empty shortly after placing our food order. Eventually we stacked our plates and the server came over and asked us to cash out. I would have loved to have another glass of wine to enjoy during the meal but was never offered. To top things off I requested on the reservation to sit in the bar seating since it was a break away from our kids. We were seated against the glass window that was then sat with a little girl and her dad which felt like we were practically dining with them. For the prices you charge you really need to offer better service. Also if you are going to have a standard of the lowest tip option being 18% you definitely need to train your...

Food sucked. Mostly bar food with 3 entree options.

My wife and I both got the beef tenderloin with seasonal veggies. First of all the tenderloin was overly well done, very hard to chew. It was nasty.

Secondly it came with the weirdest sauce I have ever tasted. Tainted the whole meal, it was like a mint chimichurri. Gross.

Thirdly the seasonal veggies were potatoes, cauliflower, and beets. They were ice cold. $29 for those meals is absolutely ridiculous. Anywho, beets? Really?

Also my father got the Cioppino. It was supposed to have shrimp, clams, mussels, and rock fish. They brought it out, forgot the mussels and provided extra shrimp. After the meal was given, they explained they forgot the mussels and gave extra shrimp, but if he wanted the mussels that it was supposed to come with, they would charge $8 for the extra shrimp they gave in lue of the mussels that was supposed to be in it.

What kind of service is that? We have to pay extra because you forgot to fulfill the meal as it’s described on the menu?

Total rip-off, do not go to this place. The food was terrible to top it off.

Go across the street to T Paul’s. 10X better.

We will never be back to place. I suggest you skip it as far as “fine dining” goes, because it...

Leave your stopwatch and attitude at home. This is s-l-o-w food, beautifully served and expertly prepared. This is one of the finest restaurants and most remarkable values I have experienced. I am a self-confessed foodie who has had some of the best in NYC, Seattle, Paris, Portland, L.A., New Orleans, San Francisco, London and even Cincinnati, a city that actually has some remarkable dining establishments. I have lived in, or near, all those places except New Orleans, London and Paris. The decor is tasteful. The giant mirrors with gilded frames remind me of the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace at Versailles. If you have an attitude about entitlement to fast service, if you are starving and require quick nourishment, bring a snack or you will usually be disappointed as your blood sugar sags. The service is friendly, but your waiter will be too pushed to watch for a dropped fork or napkin. There is not a lot of hoopla or pretension. Portions are good, dishes cooked perfectly to order and the pace is relaxed. Incidentally, the excellent reviews really do not do justice -- it is far superior than the local "critic's" review. Prices are very reasonable for the outstanding quality. No, I am not an investor -- except when I pay the...
